This cache is meant to be a family cache. We hope that you will enjoy this treasure hunt! But be warned: The treasure does not give itself away too easily!

Besides this print-out, you will require the following equipment:
  • The treasure map (see image included below)
  • A compass
  • Optional: A little flashlight

Park your car at the given coordinates. It is only 600 m by foot if you arrive at the nearest train station (N50°55.441', E006°05.873', Übach-Palenberg)): From Aachen, cross the rail tracks (underpass) and follow the cycling route.

Task 1 (White Water Wurm):

Stand on the little bridge at N50°55.665', E006°05.699'. What do you think will travel faster into the rapids when thrown from the bridge (assuming the same distance to travel): a little snippet of paper or a wooden stick?
  • The stick! Then let A = 5
  • The paper! Then let A = 15
  • Both will have the same speed and hence arrive simultaneously. In this case, let A = 11

Task 2 (Roman Ruin)

Explore the ancient Roman ruin, which once had been a bathing house. Especially the small tunnel (once a part of the heating system). How many bricks form the lowest row on the inner left wall of the tunnel (as seen from the coordinates N50°55.709', E006°05.785')?

Number B=

There is another tunnel to be found with a very similar entrance portal, which was unfortunately blocked up. With how many bricks was this portal built if you look straight at it from the front?

Number C=

Task 3 (Water's Way)

Walk across the water from N50°55.739', E006°05.774' to N50°55.717', E006°05.743' (or vice versa). How many screws were used to fix the two highest platforms?

Number D=

Task 4 (Where Adventure Lures)

Close to the coordinates N50°55.779', E006°05.879' you will find a place where adventure lures... Unfortunately, the large climbing structure is currently closed. So, there is no way to find the little metal sign that will tell you E's value. Therefore, for the time being, you only need to find the sign for F.

Number E= F - 3 (see next paragraph)

Well, E's brother, a similar sign for F, can be found elsewhere around this place, being attached to a different adventure equipment. Once you found it, don't forget to take a quick ride! Yes, go for it!

Number F=

Search thoroughly all places up and down as the signs are quite well hidden. Maybe the two spoiler pictures can help... PS: If you can't find the digits: E and F can both be computed...

Task 5 (The Treasure Map)

Your are quite close already to the treasure! All you need to do is "simply" follow the map... To this end, calculate the following coordinates: Koordinaten

(each expression between two ( ) represents exactly one digit. * stands for multiplication)

N50° 5 (A - F),(D - 10 * B)(A - B)(C - 3 * B) '

E006° 0 (A - B + E),(A - E)(F + 2)(B - F) '

Here are the map clues in English:

Remember well!
Only one who starts from SP
will find the treasure, you will see!
Proceed C+F meters,
Bearing D-C-2 degrees.

An "Ekrebuc" is the German counterpart of a "gebird"

Only you robbers will see what's so special about SP.
Just grass, it is for others, note that well, sisters and brothers.
Look to and fro from there, intersection will reveal you where.

Now it's up to you! Can you find the chest before the others? Hurry up or you'll be late! But be warned: The direct route is not always also the best!

One final remark

Please 'trade fair'! Many geocachers, especially children, after you, will appreciate finding a treasure chest that still contains some "valuables". Hence, leave only items that maintain or increase the cache's content. It is also a good idea to wrap your treasure in an additional ziploc-style plastic bag. This bag will keep your treasure clean and dry. Thank you! And now...

...enjoy the treasure hunt!

Found 28 March 2010 Die-Eifelyetis found the geocache

#715 @ 16:15

Found 09 February 2008 P. Zwackelmann found the geocache

P. Zwackelmann
