Storchennester

An den oben angegeben Koordinaten stehst du vor der Naturschutzstation Berlin-Malchow.

Hier findet jedes Jahr am letzten Wochenende vor den Sommerferien das "Storchenfest" statt.
Aber auch sonst gibt es über das Jahr verteilt zahlreiche Aktionen rund um den Naturschutz.

Außerdem gibt es das Storchen-Cafe und einen Hofladen.

Und natürlich gibt es hier Störche.

Zwei Nester befinden sich im hinteren Teil des Grundstückes. Und während der Brutsaison kannst du Livebilder der Nester im Storchen-Cafe anschauen.

Um zum Logbuch dieses Caches zu gelangen, solltest du im Vorfeld herausfinden in welchem Jahr:

• A - der Erstbezug nach Beendigung 2. Weltkrieges des Nestes auf dem Schornstein der alten Gärtnerei war,
• B - schaffte der Verein Rinder an,
• C - zog das Storchenpaar auf ein alternatives Nest um
• 
  und
  
• D - erstmals beide Nester besetzt waren.

Nun noch ein wenig Mathe.

Die Quersumme von A multipliziert mit der Quersumme von D plus die Quersumme von C ergibt die Entfernung in Luftlinie zum Logbuch.

Die Quersumme von B multipliziert mit der Quersumme von D plus die iterative Quersumme von A plus die Quersumme von C ergibt die Gradzahl für die Peilung.

Für die ganz Eiligen:
Es gibt keinen direkten Weg!

Und noch ein wichtiger Hinweis:
Der Cache befindet sich in einem Naturschutzgebiet. Der Weg muß zu keiner Zeit verlassen werden.

Mit ein wenig Glück und am richtigen Standort kann man vom Weg aus auch die Störche und ihren Nachwuchs in den Nestern beobachten.
Wer mag kann noch einen Spaziergang durch die Malchower Auen machen.

Und, wer weiß, eventuell auch dort den einen oder anderen Storch antreffen.

Stork nests

If you go to the listing coordinates, you'll find yourself standing in front of the Nature Conservation Center in Berlin-Malchow.

Here you can also visit the Center's Stork Cafè and their farm shop.

And of course – last but not least – you'll find storks.

There are two nests at the back of the grounds. And in the Stork Cafè during the nesting season you can watch them on a live cam.

To find the logbook of this cache you need to research in advance the following information:

• A - In which year after the end of WWII was the nest on the chimney first inhabited?
• B - When (which year) was a second nest built?
• C - When (which year) did a stork family first occupy this second nest?
• 
  and
  
• D- When (which year) were both nests occupied for the first time?

After you've answered all four questions, it's time to do some math.

The sum of the digits of A times the sum of the digits of D plus the sum of the digits of C result in the distance (in a straight line) to the logbook.

The sum of the digits of B times the sum of the digits of D plus the iterative sum of the digits of A plus the sum of the digits of C result in the degrees for the bearing.

For those of you in a big hurry, please note:
There is no direct path to the cache!

Important Information:
The cache is in a nature preserve. It is not necessary to leave the path at any time to reach the cache!

With a little bit of luck, and if you're standing at the right spot on the path, you can see the storks and their chicks in the nests. If you like, you can take a walk through the Malchower Auen (biotope).

And – who knows – maybe you'll even see another stork or two.
