Description

You can find this chache on foot (2,3 km one way) or get yourself a ticket for the tram (EUR 2,00) and make a comfortable journey through Gmunden.
With just a little attention everything should be easy to solve from inside the tram - apart from the first and the last station.

Park your car near the main train station (see header coordinates) and solve stage 1 before buying your ticket.

Hauptbahnhof Stage 1 - Hauptbahnhof
At the very end of the tram you'll find a sign high above.
The number of colours of the painting show A

Grüner Wald Stage 2 - Grüner Wald
Here you'll find a house with 2 house numbers on it's garden fence.
The sum of both numbers yield B

KraftstationStage 3 - Kraftstation / Gmundner Keramik
Here you'll find a high tower showing the time.
Count the letters which can be found below the time and you'll get C

Rosenkranzalign=middle Stage 4 - Rosenkranz
The station has got the same name like the street next to it.
You may not enter this street by car.
But those who may, are only allowed to do this with a maximum speed of D

Tennisplatzalign=middle Stage 5 - Tennisplatz
At this station you will find E platforms.

Stage 6 - Oberbaurat
You'll pass an arcade house between Tennisplatz and Kuferzeile.
Above the main entrance there is an inscription in honour of Governement Building Officer Dr. h. c. Ing. Josef Stern
In front of the main entrance there are F arches.

Kuferzeilealign=middle Stage 7 - Kuferzeile
Diagonally opposite the station (towards the main station) there is the house Kuferzeile number G

Bezirkshauptmannschaft Stage 8 - Bezirkshauptmannschaft
Right in front of the administration building there are H flagpoles.

Franz Josefs PlatzStage 9 - Franz Josefs Platz
Here you'll find a clock without a clockwork. Count the letters right above the clock face and you'll get I

In order to be able to find the cache you now have to walk a little bit further.
But maybe, one day, the smallest tram in the world will even take you there. Although, maybe then it would no longer be the smallest one.

X = G + I + H
Y = C + B
Z = D + F + 13

N = 47° X,CY
E = 013° Z,AE

Found 23 February 2008 bagsj found the geocache

After collecting the other members of the team we continued the hunt with a trip by tram to Gmunden. [:D]

This tramway was definitely too fast! [;)] We missed B at the beginning and another variable must have been noticed with a wrong value, too. Nevertheless it was clear where the hideout should be. Therefore it was an easy thing to find the box.

Thnx!

Besten Dank,

Peter

The 2nd one today: A really nice tour 'round Gmunden - what a funny tram.

We had some discussion when calculating the final coordinates; a mathematical problem resulting from the correct solution of stage 1 [?]. Finally, we decided to check both possibiltities on the map. [;)] Fortunately, only 1 solution seemed likely.

Arriving at the cache location, we immediately knew that we were right. [:D]
