When this cache showed up, my first reaction was "Oh well, another cache of mine where someone else hides another cache close by without having had a look at my cache". I would have preferred a cache in an area where there is not yet any cache, but on the other hand the area is nice and has its charme in every season. The area is less crowed than for example the main routes up the Schoeckl. Unfortunately, however, there are hardly any possibilities to park a car near Stage 1 - the situation has been much better a few years ago.
This cache has been on my list for a long time, but I had to wait until it was again possible for me to dare to go for it. Unlike what Dr. Torque wrote in his log, the route is certainly not suited for everyone. It is true that the trail is not a difficult one, but there are parts with a lot of stones which certainly ask for requirements no everyone can fulfill.
Because I know the area very well, I knew almost all answers to the questions already at home. Nevertheless, some kind of improvization was required as I had forgotten at home my sheet where I had written down the coordinates of Stage 1 and the codes for the numbers. Fortunately, I was able to reconstruct the code because I know the basic principle and I knew where Station 1 is located.
The signpost at Stage 1 is still lying around. Be careful at this location when writing down some information. Some bikers ride their mountain-bikes downhill with a high velocity close to the end of the trail.
Like Stage 1, also Stages 2, 3 and 4 were well known to me.
I have passed these places numerous times. All tasks were easy to solve. The task for Stage 4 should refer to the last digit (Ziffer) and not the last number (Zahl) of the trail number, but that's a mistake that occurs quite often in cache descriptions.
Apparently I did not choose an ideal approach to the cache itself as I found out later. The reception was a bit jumpy at first and I ended up in a thorny area. Soon afterwards I however found the cache. The very large cache box (which is rather empty) is in good condition. I am wondering whether ever someone will bring up a large trading item up to this cache. Anyway, as the place is not lying in an area where one can easily be observed (at least not in Summer), I did not care about the size of the box (normally, large boxes make me nervous as I am always worried that someone might show up and I am not able to hide the box quickly enough).
Thank you for the nice cache which motivated me to try to push my limits a little bit further. I enjoyed the walk, in particular the walk upwards. The walk backwards downhill was a bit more strenuous as in some parts I had to mind every step. Cachers who are able to walk with a normal pace should be able to do this cache in less than two hours.
Among the caches hidden by rieglerp, this cache is so far my clear favourite although I do not like that much the name of this cache (and even less the term Punktegeier which became so heavily used over the last two years in the geocaching community though it is an ugly term).
The cache is well-suited to be done with a MTB, but a quite good physical condition is required.
