This hill climbing is one of the most common and popular at the Rax.
Parking site:
N = 47° 44.789
E = 015° 45.714
Diagonally opposite the parking site you find the trailheads of some routes. Follow the directory "Teufelsbadstubensteig", about 1,6 km through "Großes Höllental", till you reach the access of "Teufelsbadstubensteig".
Due to the bad reception, we abstained from concrete coordinates.
At first look for the plate "Teufelsbadstubensteig" at the ground of the rock face.
It is fixed at the rock with 4 screws, but how many extra holes without a screw can you find on the plate? Take the value for "A".
Now go up.
Having covered about one third of the route - quite near the bottom of a very long ladder - you can find a trailbook in a container. How many metal arms are used to fix the container on the rock?
Take the number for "B".
Now go up the ladder and count the rungs - take the value for "C".
Follow the path till you reach the beginning of a funnel. Here you can find at first a plate on the right side, short later a plate on the left side.
Which digit is the most often one on the left plate? Take this digit for "D".
You can calculate the cache coordinates at the end of the route.
CACHE:
N = 47° 44.0(C + A*D + B*B + 2)
E = 015° 45.(A*B*C + C*D + 14)
The box is a 600 ml Lock-Lock-Box, it is not hidden on the ground.
To descend we recommend f.e. the Wachthüttelkamm (diff. A) were wou can find an other cache too.

Das Höllental mit seinen Steigen ist immer wieder toll. Dieser war vor ? Jahren einer der ersten, den ich gegangen bin.

Schon kurz nach der
Schönbrunnerstiege sind wir das erste Mal falsch abgebogen, was einige
zusätzliche Höhenmeter bedeutet hat. Um dann wieder auf den Normalweg zu
gelangen, sind wir über eine Geröllhalde nach unten "abgefahren" - dann
war der Einstieg des Klettersteiges bald erreicht. Wie G. schon
geschrieben hat, waren wir nicht ganz alleine, aber mehr als eine
Handvoll 2er-Seilschaften (wenn man das hier so nennen kann) war nicht
unterwegs. Der Steig selber ist ja nicht soo schwer, bis auf ein paar
Stellen, die doch etwas ausgesetzt waren. Daher empfand ich das
Klettersteigset schon fast als störend (aber ich habe es brav
verwendet). Die Variablen waren schnell gesammelt, einzig bei C waren
wir uns nicht ganz sicher. Der letzte Abschnitt des Steiges über die
Geröllhalde war dann mühsam und meine Beine wurden mit jedem Schritt
schwerer.
Oben dann in der Sonne kurz Rast gemacht und die
wohlverdienten Cabanossi genossen - der Cache war dann recht schnell
gefunden. Hat Spaß gemacht, danke!

Sieh an, der Teufelsbadstubensteig ist inzwischen saniert worden. Auch wenn er dadurch etwas an Charme verloren hat, bin ich ihn gerne wieder hoch. THX für die Motivation durch den Cache sagen Sterau & Nici
