In vielen Landkarten der Umgebung von Arnstadt findet man noch das Naturdenkmal "Preißeiche" im Hain bei Arnstadt (Angelhausen - Oberndorf)

Die ca. 400 Jahre alte Stieleiche wurde durch Verordnung des Oberbürgermeisters der Stadt Arnstadt vom 10.03.1943 unter Naturschutz gestellt und war nach dem damals in Arnstadt lebenden 86 jährigen Forstmeister a. D. Preiß benannt worden, der jahrzehntelang das Forstamt Arnstadt verwaltet hatte.
Das Naturdenkmal fiel am 27. März 2005 einem Sturm zum Opfer. Nur noch der gewaltige Wurzelstock ist erhalten.
