Description Deutsch · English
The parish church of Lausa is also named Pastor-Roller-Church.
Parson Samuel David Roller was born on the 25th December 1779 in Heynitz near Meißen and died on the 26th August 1850 in Lausa (a part of Weixdorf) and was an lutheran parson, pedagogue and poet.
He worked as parson from 1811 to 1850 in this church and a street in Weixdorf is also named after him.
The church of Lausa is the only church in the nowadays area of Weixdorf and the surrounding parts Weixdorf, Gomlitz and Friedersdorf were been included to the church of Lausa.
Maybe build in the 12th century the church has been destroyed during an attack of the Hussits in 1429 and afterwards rebuilded, also renewed in 1607, 1729 and 1786.
Since 1539 the church is protestant.
In 1855 the church got its first organ and 1871 three bronze bells also, which needed to be melted in 1917.
The nowadays building is from 1650 and 10 years later the sacristy including the above laying praying room of the owners of the Hermsdorf manner were build.
The rectangular church hall consists of a four-beam stellar vault, a plastering flat ceiling and a closed two-floor gallery.
The tower, also made in the 17th century, is crowned by a cambered dome, a lantern and a weather-flag, which shows the year 1786.
The steel church bells were included after the World War 1st within the tower.
Already in 1912 the organ was installed and the extensive gallery paintings were renewed.
The last restoration was done in 1986-1987.
A first burial at the old churchyard Lausa is mentioned in 1346.
Many of the tombs from the 18th and 19th century are rated art-historic valueable.
The oldest remaining tomb is from the 17th century and shows a life-sized illustration of the parson Theodorus Schumann who died in 1632.
The tombs of Charlotte Dorothea von Schönberg and countess Charlotte Sophie von Hoym are flat early neo-classical marble-brick constructions, which is alike to an Egyptian temple.
Two tomb slaps are in remambrance of prince Georg von Schönburg-Waldenburg, general-adjutant of king Albert and the owner of Hermsdorf manner and his wife Luise.
Additional noblemens like princess Maria Reuß zu Lobenstein and countess Maria Amalie zu Dohna are buried on the curch yard and also two roll of honors dedicated to the victims of both World Wars are placed here.
