St. - Michaels - Kirche - Dresden

Until 1890 the residents of the community Bühlau had to go to the churches in Schönfeld or Weißig for worship. Since 1890 there were regular services in the ground floor of the school in Bühlau. From 1898 this church was build for the growing community Bühlau with the districts Quohren and Rochwitz.

On 21. Juli 1898 commenced work began for building the church. The Neo-Gothic building was designed by Woldemar Kandler and first was named Erlöserkirche. The organ was build from the company Jehmlich in 1904.
In 1899 some bells were aquired, but in world war I they were melt for armaments purposes. The last remaining bell is still in Ruppertsgrün (Vogtland) ringing. Since 1922 the St. Michaelskirche has cast steel bells from Apolda. In 1949 the church was renamed in St.-Michaels-Kirche Dresden-Bühlau. An extensive renovation of the building took place from 1973 to 1980. In the course of this it received new glass windiws with angel motives which were designed by Albrecht Ehnert.

In front of the church there was a memorial stone until 1945 which remembered the 800th anniversary of the Wettiner. After the world war II it was lost without trace. But an memorial stone for the victims of world war I is still remaining. It was built in 1922 from Josef Häsler and shows a reflief with a mother, children and two soldiers.
