Ganz un-Orotl-like eigentlich.

Regenschauer)

Found 03 March 2007 Chiroptera found the geocache

no trade, Danke!

Found 12 May 2006 Waldschratbrigade TLU found the geocache

Will nicht!".

Lalex and I took the chance and used the beautiful weather for a walk at the waterside.
Our feet got wet a little, and our trousers got dirty (especially from climbing arround in the cache area), but finally we found the box.

Out: nothing

We used the opportunity to (try to) finish "Men's World", but we had no luck.

Found 14 August 2005 cezanne found the geocache

I decided to do this cache as I needed a source of motivation for a bicycle tour.

My experiences from my visit of the Mens World cache of ettt and the experiences of my cache hunt today, make me understand every curse in Gert's log of this cache. (When doing Mens world, a mistake led me to P2 of this cache where I had got stuck - after some attempts to approach ettt's more directly, I had given up and had gone back via the way I had come.)

As my physical condition at the moment is far from being good, I at first wanted to approach the cache via P1. When I realized that the condition of the path leading to the cache was much worser than I had expected it and I since I moreover encountered serious navigation troubles (finding the path is easy if you come from P1, but is rather hard if you come from P1 and do not know the area), I gave up after a while. Getting lost in that area must be like hell - there are so many small paths leading to nowhere and everything looks similar. The vegetation is quite heavy and there are many insects around. I also saw many raised hides, but fortunately no hunters. To avoid getting lost, I went back and decided to ride my bike to P2 by using roads. At least I knew already how to go to P2 from my previous experience with the ettt cache.

Fortunately, I knew from an e-mail exchange with orotl that the path from P2 to the cache starts behind a gate with red and white stripes. Otherwise I would not have dared to ignore the probibition sign before the gate.

The largest part of the path from P2 to the cache area is indeed nicer than the one from P1 to the cache area - it is less wet, there are fewer insects around and the view to the Mur is quite nice. The closer to the cache one comes, the wetter the path, however, gets and also the more annoying the insects become. I pushed my bike most of the time as I do not have a bicycle that is suited for such a terrain. (I recommend to include in the cache description that the neither the route from P1 to the cache nor the one from P2 to the cache are suited for normal bikes - MTBs and ATBs would be ideal, a trekking bike will do as well, but expect in any case that you and the bike will become quite dirty.)

The GPS-reception around the target area was bad, sometimes I had no reception at all. Being warned by the previous logs, I decided not to rely on my GPS that much. Moreover, when I saw the steep slope and the wet ground, I knew that I had to use another approach of searching. So I decoded the hint right away and tried to identify a possible hideout on the slope while standing on the path. I succeeded with this approach - I spotted a candidate which seemed quite likely to me.

I was a little bit worried, however, whether I would be able to reach that place and afterwards the path again safely given that the ground was wet, I was not wearing shoes that are well suited for such conditions and that one of my legs is still far from being healthy. On the other hand, I had already invested much energy into this cache and that's why I did not want to give up. So I climbed up to the place where I suspected the cache (some trees and branches helped me not to slip downwards again) and was successful. I was very happy when I found the cache. I guess I would not have given it another try as climbing around on a steep slope when the ground is wet is not something I like to do with an injured leg (I even do not like to do that under normal conditions). I have to admit that I expected the task to reach the cache less challenging - otherwise I would have visited the cache at a later stage.

It was not even easy for me to log as I first could not find a good place where I was able to stand in a stable way.
The cache and its contents are in good condition. As the cache does not get that many visitors, I did not dare to leave a traveller there.

After having logged, I had to solve the problem of getting down to the path again safely. It was not easy, but finally I managed to do so . It also had to fight against mental barriers as I was quite afraid of slipping downwards (not something attractive for someone with a hurting leg).

After having arrived safely back at the path, I decided to give it a try to approach P1 instead of going back to P2 and having to climb up another hill with the bike. This time I managed to find the right path (as mentioned above, it is much easier in this direction). I would not have found that path, however, when coming from P1 as I would not have thought that the correct path is fenced off with a gate with red-white stripes (no prohibition sign in this direction, however!). I was very glad when I finally arrived back at P1 and a normal road again and was able to ride my bike again.

On my way home from Fernitz I used for the first time the Fernitz route of the R2 - it is quite nice. (So far I always either came to Fernitz via the R2 route to Kalsdorf or from Hausmannstaetten via the standard road used by cars.)

Let me conclude: The area to which this cache leads to is very nice. If one either uses the hint or the spoiler picture, a long search can be avoided. I do not recommend to start from P1 (not even to those who come by car - if you decide yourself for that alternative nevertheless, make sure to take the right path - you need to pass a gate!). The most convenient way to do this cache for cachers who are not outdoor freaks is to drive by car to P2 and walk to the cache. (A very nice walk, but take shoes that can get wet and dirty.) If you wish to come by bicycle and do not own bike suitable for all sorts of terrain, the best solution would be to go to P2 and to push the bike from P2 to P1.

Thanks for showing me an impressive piece of nature.

Dr. Torque, Sway & aj-gps. Digging up _your_ backyard soon.

Met Dr. T. next to the cache location, he was already looking for the final for about 40 minutes. Together we then searched for at least an hour, until Sway finally found it, as it was very well hidden and the area is quite "difficult" ..
