Chapeau!

It is hardly to believe that I am only the third visitor of this cache after it exists for about seven weeks! If this cache had been hidden in the region of Vienna, it would have perhaps been visited by much more people at a single week-end.

I had put this cache on my to-do list right after it showed up. It took some weeks until I found time and the weather was reasonably nice. I decided to go for this cache today as I hoped that this area would be less crowded than more popular hiking areas on a national holiday.

On my way from my home to the cache Rosenweg I first closely passed by the Rosenhain and later on my way to Weiz I met a sign Rosenberg. I found the right way to the parking lot near the hut at the Eibisberg untypically easy - I did not need any detour this time . I was very glad that the road was paved until the end - I do not like that much driving on dirt roads.

Due to the very concise description, I had no problems at all to find the right paths. I found the micro cache quickly - I was already prepared to search for it deeper down, but I did not have to stick in my arm very far.

Before reading Dr. Torque's log I had thought that the terrain would be more complicated than it actually is. I agree with Dr Torque that the whole tour is surprisingly easy given the fact that the path which is used to approach the cache is not even shown in a map (at least in none available to me). I am starting to wonder whether the majority of nice paths is not shown on hiking maps. Perhaps the situation would improve if we had a true
1:25000 AMAP.

My favourite part of this cache tour was following the small path which splits off from the logging road and which leads to the cache. Is this path called Rosenweg (or Rosensteig)? Is anything known on the source of this name? I did not meet a single person on this path although there were many people in the area - I met several groups of hikers both on the first part of my way until I met the small path and later on my way back on the Hans Riedler path. It seems that not many people know the Rosenweg. On the other hand, it is in very good condition.

I did not feel that freeness of giddiness and sure-footedness are prerequisites for this cache - the latter perhaps in Winter when the path is very slippery. I typically get giddy already when I look at a fast merry-go-round, but I felt very well when doing this cache. Not a single place where I felt uneasy whatsoever.

Although the GPS reception was very good today, I had to search for the cache for about 10 minutes. I first had searched for it in more difficult area than necessary because it's a cache by gebu . Right when I wanted to have a look at the hint, I saw the cache - it was very close to me, almost within my reach. I tried to rehide it in about the same way as I found the cache. A look at the spoiler photograph makes me believe that the hideout looked slightly different in the first place, but that should not matter.
The cache box and its contents are in good condition. The box is large, at least when compared to most caches in Austria, but almost empty. If you come with children, do not promise them in advance that they will find a nice treasure . There is space in the box even for large TBs.

After finding the cache, I followed the suggestion of gebu to walk up to the summit and follow the marked Hans Riedler path along the ridge. I also liked this path although it was much less lonely than the path leading to the cache.

I arrived back at the car about 3 hours and 20 minutes after I had started off despite the fact that I had made several breaks to take photographs of the beautiful landscape. The view today was not as bright as it was on Saturday when I was on the Rosenkogel near Gaal, but still it was fine.
I did not take the detour to the Wittgruberhof. I am planning to show this nice area to Alice next year - maybe we will pay a visit to the Wittgruberhof at that occasion.

Overall this was a very nice and relaxing cache tour. I would love to do more caches of this type, or at least get acquainted with more such nice areas where I have never been before, but where the difficulty of the terrain allows me to go there on my own. Caches of this type are the reason why I like geocaching.

Thanks, gebu, for another wonderful cache. I liked this cache even more than your caches Nosn and Gut, besser ... because this cache offers a longer walk.

The only drawback (or perhaps it is an asset anyway) of finding such well done caches is that I feel that I should stop hiding caches of my own as I will never be able to hide a cache that I like equally than gebu's caches or the hiking caches of Alice.

No trade (I did not dare to put in a TB after my experience with the jw62 cache near Poellau).

PS: A scale that allows a more refined terrain rating would indeed be very helpful at least for me. It is frustrating to realize that a 3* rated gebu cache like that is easily manageable for me and almost all his 3.5* rated ones in Styria are already so hard that I will never be able to do them. There needs to exist something in between.
