Säästä johtuen mietin, ettei metsäkierros välttämättä olisi hyvä idea, ja sitten muistin, että minulla on ollut jo pitkään geocaching.com:in kätkö GCW2N5 "Joys of Caching" (https://coord.info/GCW2N5) to do -listalla. Suuntasin ensimmäisenä Seurasaareen ja sen jälkeen tänne. Tämä oli 12. opencaching.de -löytöni ja kolmas fyysinen löytämäni OpenCache. Täällä hommaa helpotti kierroksen muihin pisteisiin verrattuna sen, että opencaching.de on yhdistettävissä c:geoon (vastaava ei ilmeisesti onnistu terrakätköjen ja NaviCachen osalta, geocaching.com.au:lla taas on oma sovelluksensa), joten nollapisteen haarukointi sujui tuttuun tapaan.

Homma kuitenkin alkoi käydä jännittäväksi siinä kohtaa, kun ykköskännykästä loppui akku päästyäni melkein nollapisteelle asti. Asia ihmetytti hieman, koska se oli ollut matkalla latausjohdon päässä autossa, mutta autolle palattuani huomasin, että latausjohdon toinen pää oli irronnut, mikä selitti, miksei kännykkä ollut latautunut. Ongelma meinasi tulla siitä, että kakkoskännykässä en ollut kirjautunut c:geossa opencaching.de -sivustolle vielä. Hetken sain miettiä, mutta sitten salasana muistui mieleen ja pääsin jatkamaan etsintää.

Etsintään sitten taisikin mennä täällä kaikista kauimmin näistä neljästä kätköstä. Puhelimella, jota normaalisti en käytä kätköilyyn, tuntui olevan vaikeuksia saada tarkkaa fiksiä, joten lopulta rupesin tarkastelemaan maastoa järjestelmällisesti arvioidun nollapisteen ympäristöstä. Aika monta koloa sai tutkia ennen kuin piilopaikka lopulta löytyi. Näin hyvän piilon osalta en ihmettele yhtään, että kätkö on säilynyt paikallaan reilut 14 vuotta.

Tämä taitaa olla Suomen suosituin avokätkö (uusi sana minulle, opin kätkötiedotteesta!), enkä ihmettele yhtään. Kaikki löytäjät tosin eivät taida logata näitä vaihtoehtoisten sivustojen löytöjä nettiin, vaikka nimi vihkosta löytyykin: tämä toteutui erityisesti navicachen kohdalla, mutta myös tämän kätkön kohdalla edellinen loggaus netissä ennen minua oli kirjattu 18.11.2017, mutta edellinen kirjaus lokivihkossa oli kirjattu 26.4.2020.

[EN] Because of the rainy weather, I thought that a longer geocaching trip to the woods would not be a good idea. Then I remembered that I have had the geocaching.com mystery cache GCW2N5 "Joys of Caching" (https://coord.info/GCW2N5) on my to-do list for a quite long time. I started the trip in Seurasaari and continued here. This was my 12th find at opencaching.de and my third physical OpenCache find. Finding this cache was made easier by the fact that it is possible to connect opencaching.de to c:geo (which is apparently not possible with TerraCaches and NaviCaches, while geocaching.com.au has its own app), which made locating the GZ easier.

Things got interesting when my usual geocaching phone shut down while less than a hundred metres away from the GZ. That made me curious, as I had had the charging cord connected to the phone while driving here. After returning to the car later, I found out that the other end of the cord was disconnected, which solved that mystery. However, I had not connected the c:geo app on my other phone to opencaching.de yet, so I had to think a while before I remembered my password and could continue the search.

This was the hardest one to find of all of these four caches. My backup phone seemed to have problems in obtaining an accurate GPS fix here, so I had no other choice than methodically checking every possible hiding place near the GZ. After checking quite a few places I finally found the correct one. No wonder the cache has survived for 14 years, this was a rather difficult hide!

This is apparently the most popular OpenCache in Finland, which is no surprise to me. Apparently all visitors do not log these alternative caches online, even though they have logged the physical cache: this was definitely the case with the navicache, but even there the last online log was made in November 18th, 2017, while the last name in the logbook was written on April 26th, 2020.

TB stamp (trackable @ geocaching.com) in.

After two or three  DNFs at my own cache, I had chosen an exceptionally warm early Summer day to locate this. Once again I confirmed that original hideout was empty - granted - it's too challenging for the new & lazy generation of geocachers. 10 minutes later I found the new hideout. Almost equally challenging but in substantially easier terrain. I dried the documents and measured new coordinates so at the new hideout it shall remain

Kk. Kyllähän tämän etsintään taisi vähintään vartti mennä. Varsin paljon oli tarjolla mahdollisia paikkoja ja niitä sitten kävinkin läpi. Kun ei mitään alkanut löytyä, niin siirryin lueskelemaan löytölogeja ja sieltähän löytyikin pari juttua, joiden avulla sitten ajauduin oikeaan paikkaan. Kävi niin kuin jollekin aiemmallekin kävijälle, että olin ensin etsinyt turhan haasteellisista paikoista. Hyvässä jemmassa tuo kyllä on, rohkenen epäillä että ei tule vahingossa löydetyksi jonkun ei-kätköilijän toimesta. Kiitokset.

Hyvin löytyi ja hieno oli ympäristö. Purkki oli kostea, etenkin loki. Vaihdoin kuivat silicat.

Maunula-Pirkkola-kierroksella tuli haettua myös 3 kätköä, jotka eivät löydy GC.comin puolelta. Tämä oli toinen niistä. Ja "muutamasta" kolosta tätä etsittiinkin. Kiitos kätköstä.

Finally I've found it! I DNF'ed this cache on 11 Jul 2010 and set up my account here at 21 Jul 2010. Since then I've had just that one DNF here, but now I can finally log my first find!

So today we came back with kukkamaaria. We searched quite a while, something like 20 minutes, before the container finally was found. The coordinates didn't felt very exact, opinion of our GPSr's were something like 10-15 meters off. Getting the container out from it's hideout was bit of a challenge, but finally we succeeded with that too and could log our names to logbook.

Thanks for the cache! We'll see how many years it will take before I'll manage to find another cache listed on this site.

Vähäsen piti ihmetellä että missähän lokerossa kätkö on. Yhdestä paikasta bongasin mm. siilin raadon ja vähän epäilin josko siilin tappanut eläin olisi vielä jossain lähettyvillä. Löytyi se purkkikin sitten – camottomana eräästä lokerosta. Laitoin camon takaisin paikalleen.

Ensimmäinen kätkö tätäkin palvelukirjoa. Ei ihan ekasta, tokasta, .... mutta jo neljännestäkymmenestäkahdeksannesta kurkistetusta tavoiteltu kuoriutui. Danke für den Cache.

Etsin aluksi aivan liian vaikeista paikoista. Vettä satoi ja märällä kalliolla oli liukasta. No, löytyihän se kippo lopulta, kun satuin kurkistamaan oikeaan paikkaan.

Thanks for the cache in a nice place! It had survived winter very well, only some moisture had come to the logbook but I could still write my name in it!

Erään toisen kätköprojektin perässä tuli myös tämä etsittyä Qirpun kanssa. Gepsi vei hieman turhan haastavaan paikkaan, mutta aiempien lokien avustuksella Qirppu löysi purkin melko nopeasti. Kiitos kätköstä.

Huh, pari kertaa tuli tätä käytyä etsimässä, yhteensä yli parin tunnin ajan. Gepsi vei ihan jatkuvasti hieman turhan korkealle, paikkaan jossa oli aivan liikaa koloja. Aiemmin löytäneiltä sainkin sitten hieman vinkkiä oikeasta suunnasta, ja sieltähän se purkki löytyikin ihan helposta paikasta nopeasti... Ensimäisellä etsintäkerralla taisin jopa kävellä purkin ylikin, mutta pimeässä en sitä silloin nähnyt. Kiitos kätköstä.

This was my first found of opencaching.de site. I came here because of the one mystery cache as you could guess . The cache itself found rather easily. The gsp device took me to exact place and the cachebox found from first place what I checked. The box was a good condition. TFTC.

One mystery was the cause of visit here. I found the cache after a few rounds. This was fist OpenCache. TFTC

This cache sure took me some time to find. In fact, I tried to call someone who had found the cache already. Unfortunately the call was fruitless as my victim couldn't remember the cache in the first place.

As always, asking helped, still. I ended the call, put the phone away, grabbed the cache and signed the log. Hiding place was obvious, but somehow it manaed to fool me, badly! Thanks.

Am diesen ersten mal dieses cache war viel zu schwer für mich.... Aber Ich komme zurück.

Tätä sai etsiä todella pitkään ja hartaasti. Kolusin koloja joka puolelta, yritin lukea lokeja mutta en saanut niistä muuta vihjetta kuin että kordinaatit ovat tarkat. Ja niinhän ne olivatkin kun lopulta purkin löysin. Kiitos kätköstä!

Jonkin aikaa etsittiin, mutta kun alkoi olla aika lähteä kohti Pasilan urheiluhallia erästä kevätnäytöstä katsomaan, soitin vihjepuhelimeen ja sain vinkin, jonka avulla tiesin heti, mistä pitää etsiä. Vierestä olin katsonut, mutta jotenkin vain olin onnistunut sivuuttamaan oikean kolon. Kiitos hyvästä kätköstä.

My first "opencache-found" after visiting another nearby cache in Maunula. Very well hidden,box and contents in exellent  condition! Could find this even with Garmin Nuvi 250,in only 10 mins,  because of very accurate coordinates! Vielen Dank!

This was an easy one. Not. It took five or six visit to find the cache and also couple of hints from Virvatuli. It wasn't in that hard place when we finally found it but it's amazing how blind you can sometimes (or always) be.

Tämä loki on näköjään aikoinaan jäänyt kirjaamatta muualle kuin GeoWikiin, (http://www.geowiki.fi/OC1E73) jossa olin logannut näin: "Pienen haeskelun jälkeen pääsin Mikkozzz:n aallonpituudelle. Lähes vuoden pimeimpään aikaan iltaviideltä ei ollut enää valoisaa, mutta ei se haitannut."

I found it in the rain. Fortunately I spotted it quite quickly. The hideout was such a good one that the search could have taken ages. TNLN. TFTC. 

Das war aber ganz schwer aber haben endlich gefunden.

Now that was well hidden. I almost started to despair, but patient and methodic searching paid off. Vielen Dank für die Cache.

Second try and now we found it!

Gut versteckt aber habe es jedoch gefunden.

Had to call "help desk" before finding this one. Caching with VesaK. The cache actually was where I said it was but we just didn't find it without help. Good hide.

There was a bird's nest very near the cache coordinates. When we came there the bird was disturbed and flew away from the nest but stayed near and made noice. Therefore we tried to search very quickly and didn't find the cache. Have to come back later in the summer.

We were here a day earlier, but had to give up searching after it started raining really heavily (we had searched more than an hour anyway :). We asked a hint from Virvatuli and decided to come for a second try the next day. We met Shambbu at the cache location and were then able to share the hint with them, too. This was actually the second time that we met while searching for a cache from the same hider :)

The location was quite familiar to us... we had a geocache hidden just 5 meters away from this cache :P

Luckily Krista&Geert came just in time to find this cache for us! Without them, we couldn't have found the cache this time. We had already searhed about half an our without success and were just leaving because of small accident. (After this, we went directly to hospital, and wrist was confirmed to be broken).

The environment isn't dangerous, this kind of accident can happen in any place, even in our own yard.
