Well, another chapter in the book "Cezanne chose the worst possible day to do a certain cache". Previous chapters concern the caches Riddles around the castle, Hochlantsch (via Teichalm) and Wölkerkogel.

When I became aware of this cache, I immediately knew where the first three stages of this cache are located. I know the area very well and it belongs to my favourite areas. I had very detailed plans for setting up a cache in the area myself with the special focus on Stages 1 and 2 and the area in between. I invested a lot of work into this project, but somehow I did not manage to complete the cache until now. A few months ago I might have been disappointed about someone hiding a cache in the area, but now I do not mind it any longer as my energy to hide new caches has decreased considerably anyway. In any case, special thanks are due to orotl who had plans in this area as well and refrained from carrying them out when I told him about my plans.

Being quite familiar with different systems of coordinates, it was no problem for me to deal with the way the coordinates are represented in this cache. I do not think, however, that the terms "Hochwert" and "Rechtswert" are correct: the numbers given are not easting and northing values (these consist of more more than 4 digits) though it is quite obvious how the real easting and northing values are to be obtained.

Some of the answers to the questions at Stages 1 and 2 were well-known to me or available at home to me as I know the area very well and also have some material at home about these places (including brochures and photographs that I have taken myself durig previous visits of the area).

Both at Stage 1 and at Stage 2 I found all informations very quickly. Normally I like this area very much, but today it was almost like an menace for me to spend more time than absolutely necessary there. Too much noise, too many people and an athmosphere I am disliking very much. When I saw some of the items which were offered at booths I was really shocked: machine guns as toys for children are something that should not be produced at all, but finding them that close to sacral and holy places was too much for me. In any case, I am thankful to the hiders of the cache that they dealt in a respectful way with Stages 1 and 2.

As black clouds showed up at the sky, I hurried up to Stage 3 which is well-known to me as well. I quickly computed the coordinates of the last stage. There were less people around there. On my way to the cache, I had big problems with the reception. Fortunately, about 150 meters before the cache, I managed to regain a fixing. The reception was, however, very jumpy and I used the hint to speed up my search. I was not happy about the hideout as I was hoping that it would be easier to reach the hideout than it actually was for me.
The ground was slippery and I had to take some detour to reach the hideout. There I had the next troubles. I did not manage to open the ziplock-bag. Somehow the zipper does not work in the way it should (a very thin strip is broken off at the top and it seems that a special strategy is necessary to open the bag). Due to the fact that it had started to rain and that I was not standing comfortably at all at the hideout, I decided after a few minutes to give up trying to reach the log book and put a small piece of paper into the box on which I had jotted my alias. Maybe one of the next cachers can enter my name into the logbook. I hope that this way of logging will be acceptable to the hiders given my special situation.

Since I was not reasonably confident to be able to get down from the hideout area safely again, I decided to make a big detour and walk up from the hideout to the nearest street which I then followed until I arrived back close to the starting point of my tour. SOme part of the way along the street was a bit dangerous today (some drivers drove much too fast, most probably some of them had consumed too much alcohol).

Thank you for hiding a nice and respectful cache in an area which belongs to my favourite areas around Graz. Today was, however, not the best way to visit this cache, but that's not the fault of the hiders. Moreover, the hideout is not very suitable for people who are handicapped in some way. (The terrain rating 2.5* is fully ok - I was just hoping that it would just reflect the distance.)

The cache would deserve more visitors, but it appears that the type ? scares away many cachers even if no real mystery is involved. (Dealing with the BNM coordinate system should be routine work for people who like hiking and hiking caches.)

Aha - da hatte ich also etwas falsch interpretiert.

After this cache was published I quickly figured out how to deal with these coordinates but didn't have time to go for this cache - and the weather wasn't that nice either.
Today I decided to use the sunny afternoon to go for this cache, as usual by bike. Arriving at the first stage I wasn't sure if that was a good idea, but later on I was glad that I was there by bike [;)].
Very nice view(s) - never been there before.
Found all stages without any issues. The final took me a while, but then I found it at the first place that I had a look at - on the third round through the area.
TNLN; thanks.
