Wieder so eine Dose die mich schon lang von meiner nearest-unfound Liste angelacht hat. Vom Eibisberg gings zuerst in Richtung Schönes Kreuz, dann über ein Hochmoor (was es hier nicht alles gibt..) und lockeren Hochwald zum Cache - echt schönes Platzerl das man sich nur mit Reh-herden teilen muss. Danke für die Dose :)

Auf der Seven-Summits-Tour bietet sich natürlich auch ein Abstecher auf den Pommesberg an. Hab ihn jedoch, was den Anstieg betrifft, fast ein bisschen unterschätzt. Dachte, das geht so nebenbei, aber da gehts ganz schön rauf, und diese Energie fehlt einem dann tendentiell bei den anderen Summits. [:D]

So grauslich der Nebel in Graz war, so schön war es hier heroben, zumal die Gesellschaft unterhaltsam war.
Knapp vor dem Ziel kamen uns snowsurfers entgegen, und knapp danach war Zeit für eine ausgiebige Jausenpause in der Sonne. Leider ohne Fritten...

Bei wunderschönem Herbstwetter sind wir heute auf den Pommesberg spaziert. Ohne Geocachen wäre ich wohl nie da rauf gekommen. Sehr ruhiges uns schönes Platzerl.

Nach dem Holzbein sind wir zu 7. zu diesen Cache aufgebrochen. Am Fusse kam uns Snowsurfer mit Familie entgegen.

Vom "The wooden leg of a stoned man" kommend, wirklich sehr nette Wege folgend, stiegen wir noch zu diesem Cache auf.
Nettes Platzerl, aber zum Rasten und Sonnenstrahlen einfangen störten uns die Bäume, deswegen gings flugs wieder zurück zum Startpunkt dieses Caches, wo wir an einem Tisch mit Bankerl eine ausgiebige Pause genossen.
Zu viert wählten wir dann die Route über den 'Rosenweg' zurück zu unseren Autos, während Rabat mit Kathi und L...Harry mit dem zweiten Auto zum Startpunkt zurückfuhren.

Der Cache braucht aber dringend Wartung: die Pommes sind definitiv alle!

After consulting the weather forecast, I hesitated whether I should visit this cache today as it was not sure at all whether the fog barrier would be high enough. As according to my experiences the chances for sun would be higher in the early afternoon and as I am not interested into being first at caches, I decided to leave relatively late.

As I wanted to go for a hike, I decided to take the risk. I followed Pr3ach3rman's suggested route. At 12 pm I started at the Brandlucken. Up to reference point V1 the route was trivial to find. Thereafter I did not take the best path at the beginning, but managed to reach the path I should have taken with almost no detour. On my approach to the cache I wondered which way the hider might have taken as I could use a path up to about 60m to the coordinates given for the cache. I then searched for quite some time at all possible and impossible places around the coordinates provided for the cache.

While it was sunny in this area in the beginning, the sun disappeared during my search. I then wanted to give up, but decided to walk up to the highest point. On my way I found the cache at a suspiciously looking location. The coordinates for this place are about 40m off from the coordinates provided in the cache description. I did save a waypoint there as three other cachers have found the cache before me and at least some of them own much better GPS-devices than myself. Most probably a mistake has happened when setting up the cache description. 40m off are not typical for Pr3ach3rman. If a spoiler picture had existed, I would have realized right away that I was searching in the wrong area.

Although I was behind my schedule, I decided to keep with the route suggestion and to descend down to waypoint V2. I did not find a nice path, however. I guess that I should have climbed under the barbed wire fence instead of descending near the fence. As soon as I had reached the marked trail again, the walk became again easy and relaxing.

Thank you for hiding this nice cache which motivated me to visit a nice place which was unknown to me and to start off for a hike despite the foggy weather.

I feel that both the significant hike icon and the terrain rating 3* are a bit exaggerated (the terrain rating accounts for the single way distance to the cache). At least when starting from the Brandlucken, it is rather a nice walk than a hike (only for the last part of the ascent and the descent reasonable shoes can be helpful after rain).
