Die evangelische Kirche in Neunkirchen /Odenwald ist den heiligen St.Cosmas und Damian gewidmet und geht auf eine frühmittelalterliche Quellenkapelle zurück. Es befindet sich auch je eine Statue neben der Tür.

Früher gab es hier eine Heilquelle, und der Überlieferung nach sollen hier St Cosmas und Damian kranke Leute mit dem Wasser geheilt haben.

Da die Anzahl der OC-Caches in meiner Gegend ziemlich überschaubar ist, widme ich mich momentan lieber den Safari-Caches, allerdings meist andersrum: Ich finde Motive und suche die passenden Safaris dazu :-)

Die Reliquien der Heiligen befinden sich in der St. Michaelskirche in München bei N 48 08.298 E 011 34.222. Zur Zeit ist der Schrein, auf dem sie auch abgebildet sind, wegen Renovierung im umhüllten Beichtstuhl verborgen, aber eine Infotafel zeigt ein Foto des Schreins.

Cosmas und Damian? nie was von gehört... war auch nur zufällig mal über diese Safari gestolpert. Doch der Name blieb irgendwie hängen.
Letztens war ich bei meiner Oma zu Besuch, die mir eine Trauerkarte eines bekannten von ihr zeigte, der verstorben war. Die Trauerfeier war in der Kirche St. Cosmas und Damian in Köln Weiler. Nie was gehört vorher von der Kirche... Auf der Rückfahrt von Zons nach Hause änderte ich den Kurs und steuerte die Kirche an, die auch noch offen war und ich die so innen erkunden konnte. Sogar ein Bildnis der Heiligen war in der Kirche, allerdings in einer dunklen Nische, so dass ich leider mit Blitzlich ausleuchten und fotografieren musste, um überhaupt was zu erkennen.

Not a Find... just a Note ;)

Nelly 01 and me found a Church of Cosmas and Damian at Heroldstatt-Ennabeuren - however, there were no pictures on the outside that looked like these two men, we couldn't get inside, and since it's a protestant church, wouldn't expect there to be any depiction inside either.

A few days later we found that a local heritage association in a small village in Croatia was also named after Cosmas and Damian. Since it sounded plausible they might have named theirselves after their church patrons (there wasn't much in this village anyway...), we stopped at the church, but couldn't find anything for this Safari either.

The Münster Essen is dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian and stands at N 51 27.351 E 007 00.781 on the Burgplatz in the centre of the city of Essen, Germany.

Unfortunally there were a church service as we went there and for that we could not visite the church from inside. So we took some photos outside and hope thes are enough. Otherwise let us know and we do futher search.

The Saints Cosmas and Damian are the city patrons of Essen. So, it is not surprising that you can find the statues of both of them in the city hall shopping centre. They have been made by the sculptor Heinrich Kröger in 1886-87 for the city hall of Essen.
