The Garchinger Heide is an area typical of the so called gravel lowlands created by the river Isar during the ice age. It is a sanctuary for rare and endangered plants and animals.
More information (in German) on the historical, geological and biological background can be found at the Heideflächenverein (Heathland Society, an association of the local towns).
Because this area is a nature reserve where you can find species that are extinct in all other places, please, please, please follow the instructions given on the information panel at N48 17.331 E11 38.944.
Especially important points are
Do not access the area with bicycles! Do not enter with dogs, neither without nor on long or short lead! The trails are hardly adequate for prams!There are also regularly updated flyers available at the information panel about the currently blooming plants.
The distance is some 2.5 to 3 km along narrow dirt tracks across a relatively flat area.
To the Cache
The start point to this easy Multi is half the way between Eching and Dietersheim at the border of a small nature reserve at N48 17.331 E11 38.944. This is not far from the highway A9 to / from Munich, exit Eching. If possible come here on a day with easterly winds, then you can hardly hear the highway.

Please follow the pegged out trail starting here. After a distance of about 100 m you’ll find a memorial stone.

Now please follow the trail, without caring for the trails branching off on the left or the right side or crossing your way.

Now mark an auxiliary waypoint at

Now survey your track log: Starting at your current position follow the line back to the parking lot where you started your walk, and continue along the imaginary line straight to the auxiliary way point that you just added. This pattern should show a digit.

Der Cache ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar, da ich ihn wg. der alljährlichen Pflegearbeiten im Zielgebiet sicherheitshalber eingesammelt habe!

Auch ich hatte erst Probleme die Zahl zu erkennen, aber nach ein paar Minuten ist dann doch der Groschen gefallen wie die Anleitung zu interpretieren ist [:)]. Den Cache habe ich dann sehr schnell gefunden, die Tarnung war nicht mehr ganz perfekt.
Beim auswickeln der Tüte kamen mir eine offene Dose und ein paar Einzelteile entgegen. Entweder wurde sie nicht richtig verschlossen oder sie ist von alleine aufgesprungen, so ganz vertrauenswürdig schien mir der Verschluss nicht. Der Inhalt war aber nur leicht angefeuchtet und schnell getrocknet. Die Dose ist jetzt hoffentlich zuverlässig geschlossen und der Schatz wieder frisch getarnt.
Danke für den Weg in diese schöne Gegend. Ich werde sicher nochmal wieder vorbei schauen und den Stand der Blüte checken.

Cache Nummer2 heute mit Kemi auf der Nord-Tour.
Sehr netter Rundweg. Schön, daß es sowas noch um München gibt.
Zahl war nach einigem Überlegen dann doch eindeutig.
Cache auch sofort gefunden.

Haben den lauen Abend heute noch genutzt und sind bei einem herrlichen Sonnenuntergang diese interessante Runde durch die Garchinger Heide gegangen. „Brettl-eben“ ist ja eigentlich nicht wirklich unser Favorit , aber es ist ja schon spannend was es so alles im direkten Umfeld gibt, und man kennt es nicht. Danke auch für die ausführlichen Hintergrundinfos! Hatten viel Spaß mit dem Klasse Cache! Happy hunting allseits SaRa – Sabine + Rainer

Das ist für uns der Hauptgrund fürs Geocachen: Schnitzeljagd in interessanter Umgebung. Ein schoener Cache mit neuer Aufgaben-Idee.
Dass es hier noch so eine Heide gibt wussten nicht mal meine Münchner Bekannten - um so besser dass es Geocachen gibt.
Dass troestet auch darueber hinweg, dass kurz vor uns Dr. Nullinger gefunden wurden.

Zwischen zwei Regenschauern die Garchinger Heide zum "Auslaufen" nach der Mission Delta genutzt. Das Gebiet ist mir in floral ansprechenderer Erscheinung in Erinnerung, dazu ist aber wohl schon zu spät im Jahr.
Aufgaben und Cache leicht zu lösen bzw. zu finden.
