This is my first geocache, I hope you will enjoy this trip as much as I did.
Note: This route can not be followed with a pram and is only partially suitable for bikes. It is recomended to use sturdy shoes or boots and keep in mind that on the last stage there is a high risk or danger of falling. The whole route that leads to and from the Cache is about 10 km in distance. The Images display spoilers and are only additional information that is not necessarily required in order to find the Cache. Experienced Cachers should be able to do without.
START: N 49°29.833' E006°32.746'
Startingpoint is a parking lot near an inn. You will find a small white board with yellow writing upon it (Image #1). It displays the numeral 30 and above that BW 43 19AB. Copy the digits A and B and calculate C and D as follows:
C = B / 2
D = A - 1
Now you have the coordinates for the first way-point. Yes, that is wher you must head off to!
WP01: N 49°29.D5A' E006°32.CB4'
Once you have arrived look for a power pole (you can hardly miss it). This beholds the letter E (Image #2). F and G can be calculated as follows:
F = B - E
G = SQRT((2 * E) + B)
WP02: N 49°29.9DG' E006°32.FG7'
Look arround for a yellow board showing directions and distances (Image #3). How far is the distance to the "Teufelssteinhütte" (Devilstonecabin) ? It is exactly H,I km. Solution:
J = (2 * I) - E - F + H
K = I + C - D
WP03: N 49°30.KC6' E006°31.BJ7'
There should be a flagpole nearby. In case the pole has blown away or has been stolen: It does not matter! Our interest ist the anchorage (Image #4). These are fastened with L support pillars to the cliff. That leads to:
M = (L^2 - (2 * L)) + B
N = (3 * L) - K
WP04: N 49°30.LI9' E006°32.0MN'
Start looking for a power box. Found it ? No ? Well, it is farely hard to spot. Maybe you want to try and look into the blue ton or at the Image #5. Beware of the Muggles, they may think you are a power thief or maybe even a terrorist.
Within the power box you can see 4 small blue power sockets and 2 big red ones. Each power socket has its own number. O is the amount of the left red and the first left blue socket. P is the amount of the right red sockets. This is enough to reach the next waypoint.
WP05: N 49°30.1PP' E006°32.OO2'
Right, here you should keep a look out for the yellow board as seen in WP02 (Image #6). After having taken this trip you will need course of treatment. How far is it to the rehabilitation-clinic ? It is exactly Q,R km. This leads to the following calculation:
S = R - Q
T = S + 2
WP06: N 49°30.2RS' E006°32.6TQ'
Nearby the grill you will notice that there are two tables that have been attached to the floor (so they should still be there when you pass the spot). V is the amount of woodpanels used on both tablesurfaces. That leads to to:
W = SQRT(V)
X = W - J + K
The route takes a right turn and at this point you will understand why a pram can not be used along this trip. If you do not want to miss the turn, take a look at Image #7.
WP07: N 49°30.3XV' E006°33.K1W'
Allmost done! The Cache is now within your grasp and the Saar is only 200 meters away - altitude of course. Look North-East and you should be able to see Y wind wheels (Image #8). What ? To dark to see ? Rain, Fog or Snow ? No problem! If and when you are standig infront of the steep cliff you can see a tree with Y tree-trunks (now isn't that a nice coincidence). The position of the Cache can be calculated as follows:
Z = Y - W - P + Q
U = Y - Z
The Treasure: N 49°30.ZSY' E006°33.UOV'
Finally! Finding the Cache should now be very easy as it is a typical Cachehidingplace. Beware of broken glass! A few unthoughtfull people have decided to dispose of their trash here in the nature protectorate area. Keep in mind to not be to high-spirited, as a fall will/would be very far and very hard!

Junge, junge! Da haben wir uns das ganz schön schwer gemacht. Erst haben wir am Anfang den falschen Weg gewählt und sind einiges an Strecke marschiert, bis der Fehler behoben war. An WP02 angekommen fehlt das Schild samt Pfosten. So haben wir erstmal die ganze Umgebeung abgesucht und uns mit dieser Problematik recht lange aufgehalten. In der Erde kann man noch das Loch sehen, wo das Schild einst stand. Mit Hilfe des Hinweisfotos #3 haben wir anhand des Hintergrundes den Standort des Schildes erkannt. Nun dachten wir, das war es mit diesem Cache aber aufgepasst: Ca. 100 Meter weiter oben gibts noch ein gelbes Schild!
Das nächste Highlight gabs nach dem WP04. Auf dem weiteren Weg sonnte sich eine recht ausgewachsene Schlange (ca. einen Meter lang) und züngelte und zischte uns an. Puh, da haben wir uns echt erschrocken. Zu Hause im Tierbuch nachgeschaut könnte es sich um eine Schlingnatter gehandelt haben (ungiftig, beißt aber gerne). Von nun an konnte uns nichts mehr bremsen und wir haben den Rest dann bis zum Cache gemeistert.

Unser erster Cache !
und auch noch gefunden
hat gut funktioniert mit dem PDA
(zumindestens bis wir das mit den unterschiedlichen Kooridnaten (dd mm ss usw) verstanden hatten.

Bei tollem Winterwetter habe ich diese schöne kleine Wanderung gemacht. Beim Fahrrad hatte ich glücklerweise unten an den Startkoordinaten geparkt und weiter ging es dann zu Fuß.
Die Stationen waren eigentlich alle eindeutig, nur bei dem Stromkasten hatte ich wohl was falsches abgelesen. Die folgende Station hatte ich dann nicht... Da ich aber im bekannten Gebiet war bin ich direkt zur nächsten Station weiter. Mit einen kleinen Unsicherheitsfaktor ging es dann weiter zum Cache.

Endlich haben wir es geschafft!!!
Schöne Tour die wir aber bereits am Samstag begonnen haben, aber da wir nicht wußten was SQRT heißt Cachekooridnaten falsch berechnet. Nach 1 Std. suchen bei den falschen Koordinaten haben wir die Tour abgebrochen.
Heute den Cache dank unserer beiden Spürnasen gehoben.
P.S. Danke für den Hinweis vom 23.08. bezgl. des gefährlichen Umweges, nur haben wir es leider zu spät gelesen

In der zweiten Etappe habe ich nun endlich den Saarstein erklommen. Und dabei habe ich auch noch meinen ersten FTF gemacht. Die Koordinaten des Caches sind alle exakt. Am Final sollte man dem Hinweis folgen und nicht zu übermütig im Fels suchen.
