Beschrijving English (Engels)

The Botanic Gardens in Bonn is part of the University of Bonn and is laid out picturesquely around the Poppelsdorf Castle. The gardens today has evolved from the baroque castle gardens created around 1720. Read more on the excellent English website.

Note the opening hours of the gardens:

Summer (Apr – Oct): Sunday – Wednesday & Friday 10–18h; Thursday 10–20h; Saturday closed
Winter (Nov – Mar): Monday – Friday 10–16h; Saturday and Sunday closed

Access to the gardens is free except on Sundays and public holidays where a €3 entrance fee must be paid. No dogs or bikes are allowed inside.

Now to the task at hand: Directly inside the main entrance you will find the Lyrabecken (Lyra pond), named for the Lyra sculpture in the middle of it. To the South of the South corner there is a webcam; stand at the corner of the tiles, face the cam and clearly display your GPS to claim a find here.

The URL of the webcam is http://botgart.uni-bonn.de/o_news/webcam.html ; the picture is updated once a minute. Have your helper save the image and upload it together with your log. Logs without photos will be deleted.

The webcam last updated 23 May 2015. I'll disable this for now. If the camera isn't back in regular operation by 01 September, I'll archive the cache.

I'm sitting on the bench next to Lyrabecken typing this on my phone, but looks like the webcam pic last refreshed on 2015-04-04 :(

Edit: and just as I had uploaded the webcam pic and wanted to take a phone pic, the battery gave out ☹ oh well.

Na hätte ich doch mal das Listing richtig gelesen.
Als man Geld von mir haben wollte habe ich doch etwas verwundert geschaut.
Daraufhin habe ich hier abgebrochen und komme ein anderes Mal wieder.
Derzeit kostet der Eintritt 3 € und Donnerstags ist im Sommer bis 20 Uhr geöffnet.

Nachdem wir heute für 2 Caches 2 Stunden gebraucht haben scheint es wohl nicht unser bester Cachetag zu sein. Doch wenigstens hier konnten wir erfolgreich sein.

Heute mit den Broilern zusammen den Botanischen Garten auf gesucht um diesen Cache zu machen.Eigentlich hat Frau Broiler schon allles geschrieben.

Heute ist unser Pleiten, Pech und Pannentag...

Eigentlich wollten wir die Nostalgieserie der Suppenhühner gemacht haben, aber mitten auf der Autobahn, als ich mich wunderte, wieso das GPS nicht navigiert, stellte ich fest, dass es kaputt ist... Also, was tun?

Da erinnerte ich mich an diesen Webcam-Cache und wir beschlossen, wenigstens den zu machen.

Nach ein paar Runden um den Block zwecks Parkplatzsuche, standen wir an GZ und riefen broiler2 an, er möge doch ein Foto von uns schießen. Aber durch's Handy kam immer nur: "Ich seh euch noch nicht!"

Irgendwann war dann auch der Grund für diese Blindheit klar: die webcam funktionierte heute nämlich auch nicht, und zeigt ein Bild von gestern Mittag...

Wir haben jetzt als "Beweis" das Foto von gestern angehängt und vor Ort ebenfalls ein Beweisfoto geschossen, ich hoffe, dass ist ok so.
