Stone cache in the L'Albufera Nature Park

The L'Albufera Nature Park lies south of Valencia and is one of the most important wetlands on the Iberian Peninsula. The lake L'Albufera, which gives the park its name, is its heart – surrounded by reed belts, pine forests and sand dunes. Over 300 bird species live here, and for centuries rice cultivation has shaped the cultural landscape all around.

Between the lake and the sea, in the pine forests, the dunes and on the beach, it's easy to spend a lovely day. With the cache here, you now have one more waypoint.

Getting there

The park is easy to reach by bus. From "Porta de la Mar", bus line 24 towards "El Palmar" goes directly to the nature park. The journey takes about 50 minutes from the city centre. Get off at one of the stops along the road, and then it's just a short walk (see waypoint).

The cache

This cache works simply: take a stone – ideally a nice one from the beach – write your name on it and place it with the other stones at the cache. You need to bring something to write with yourself, ideally something weatherproof like a permanent marker or a ceramic pen.

The cache is located at the foot of a tree that has grown almost horizontally and stands only a few metres from the path.

If stones ever go missing or are no longer legible – no problem. Just add yours and start the cache anew. The principle stays the same.
