This is a virtual safari cache. It's not bound do a fixed location, but can be solved at various places.

It's an important part of a real safari to find a lion... So this is also a safari about lions.

Your task:

Find a sculpture which shows a lion or its head.
Take a picture of the sculpture. The picture should show, that you have been at the sculpture personally, by showing yourself, a trackable or your GPS-device.
Add the coordinates of your found to your log.
Optionally: do you have any background information about the sculpture? Add this to your log.
Every lion should be logged only once, each account should log only one lion.

We are looking only for sculptures, which show 3-dimensional lions. Illustrations, e.g. in arms, are not allowed. Real lions are not allowed either.

The picture in this listing shows a lion which is part of the "Remscheider Löwenparade" , there are much more lions in Remscheid which belong to this parade. It's located at N 51° 10.853 E 007° 10.395.

Please use this format for your coordinates when writing the log: "N/S DD MM.MMM E/W DDD MM.MMM" (e.g. "N 48 00.000 E 008 00.000"), to enable the safari cache map to recognize and parse your log correctly!

In Leipzig gibt es viele Löwen, ist er doch das Wappentier der Stadt. 2002 gab es ein Marketing-Projekt mit dem Namen „Leo Lips“, bei dem 1,80 Meter große Löwen-Rohlinge aus Kunststoff mit Betonbodenplatte von interessierten Unternehmen erworben und nach eigenen Vorstellungen gestaltet werden konnten. Die dabei entstandenen Unikate sind noch heute im Stadtbild zu finden. Drei davon wurden hier auch schon geloggt. Unser Exemplar findet man bei:

N 51° 20.179' E 012° 21.375

an der Ecke Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße / Marschnerstraße.

Die Löwenjagd war heute erfolgreich, wenn auch eher zufällig. Im Löwencenter in Luzern, nah beim Löwendenkmal, steht dieser eiserne Geselle und wartet auf Futter.

Diesen schönen alten Löwen habe ich in Schulenburg am Eingang zum alten Friedhof entdeckt.

Les Charrons en voyage.

5. August 2025

Ein Traum wurde endlich wahr. Eine Reise mit den legendären Hurtigruten entlang der Küste Norwegens.

Wie schön, wenn dann auch noch das Hobby seinen Anteil an diesem schönen Erlebnis hat.

Die gestellte Aufgabe konnten wir im Hafen von Bergen / Norwegen lösen. Hier bewachen gleich drei Löwen den alten Teil des Hafens.

Die dazu gehörigen Koordinaten lauten N 60° 23.692 E 005° 19.499.

Da bleibt nur noch zu sagen: Vielen Dank an mambofive für die kleine Herausforderung.

Diese Safari war nicht schwer. Zürich ist gewissermassen eine Löwenstadt und die Schildhalter des Stadtwappens sind zwei Löwen. Kleinere und grössere Löwen sind vielerorts zu finden. Wir erinnerten uns gleich an eine ziemlich imposante Löwenstatue und gingen heute hin um ein paar Bilder zu knipsen.

Der schreitende Löwe von Karl Geiser (1898-1957) entstand 1934 bis 1939. Er steht vor einem kantonalen Verwaltungsgebäude, bei
