Description
About the location
One of the most remarkable natural monuments on the island of Krk is this magnificent European nettle tree (Celtis australis). With its broad canopy providing welcome shade, it is considered one of the oldest and largest trees on the island and has long been a popular resting place for hikers and cyclists.
According to local legend, the tree was planted around 1058 by the Croatian king Petar Krešimir IV., who is said to have found refuge here. Whether this story is historically accurate remains uncertain, but it has been passed down through generations and adds a special charm to this remarkable place.
Just a few steps away lies a small pond that provides habitat for numerous animal species. If you're lucky, you may even spot one of the rare European pond turtles, a protected species in Croatia.
Legend or not, this is definitely a place worth visiting.

Heute noch kurz vor dem nachhause fahren diesen Baum besichtigt und den nahen Ort natürlich auch.Nun kann es nach hause gehen mit ordentlich Wein an Bord.

Im Zuge des Multis "900 jähriger Europäischer Zürgelbaum" das notwendige Wort gefunden und ein Foto von diesem schönen und mächtigen Baum gemacht.

Eigentlich sollte es bei ddr heutigen Wetterprognose ein Badetag serden, aber irgendwie kam es dann doch anders.
So entschlossen wir uns ganz kurzfristig, cachetechnisch im Nordosten von Krk zu Cachen um uns dann nördlich virzuarbeiten. So der Plan, aber das mit dem Norden wurde das dann eher nichts, zu sehr hatte es uns Vrbnik angetan, so dass wir uns dort länger aufhielten als geplant.
Als es von dort weiter ging, war die Zeit schon weit fortgeschritten.
Auch in Silo hielten wir uns länger auf als geplant, hier war es aber den drei Tradis auf der Landspitze geschuldet, die einfach nicht an geteerten Wegen liegen wollten, Kraxlerei in scharfkantigem Gelände ist das Stichwort.
Trotzdem haben wir noch einige Kilometer geschafft, bevor es zurück nach Baška ging, wo wir in Ermangelung eines Frühstücks unsere erste heutige Mahlzeit im "Malin" zu uns nahmen und zufrieden registrierten, dass in Brandenburg die Arschkrampen für Dummies nicht gewonnen haben.
Was für ein beeindruckendes Gewächs.
