Description
Durante la guerra di successione austriaca i Francesi assediarono Friburgo nel 1744 e il loro re Luigi XV di Francia osservava il cannoneggiamento da Lorettoberg. Secondo un accordo tra i contendenti, i cannonieri tedeschi non avrebbero sparato su Louis, e i francesi non avrebbero bombardato la cattedrale. Tuttavia una palla di cannone tedesco fu tirata su Lorettoberg, schivò il re, e colpì una cappella. Questa palla di cannone si può trovare ancora oggi, sopra una delle porte laterali della cappella. Nella leggenda, si narra che un altro proiettile sia stato tirato su Lorettoberg. Ritrovate questa seconda palla in un cuscinetto di 259° dalla cappella a 88 m di distanza.
