 Monumento al Capitan Melgar El
Monumento al Capitán Melgar se encuentra en los Jardines de
Lepanto, en la Plaza de Oriente, en Madrid (España). Fue
inaugurado el 21 de diciembre de 1911 siendo su escultor Julio
González-Pola y García y representa el busto del
capitán del Ejército Español
Ángel Melgar (1876–1909).
Con unas medidas de 3,60 metros 1,60 metros × 1,60 metros, el busto se encuentra realizado en bronce y mármol gris y negro. El monumento fue trasladado en 1989 Lápida frontal: "S. M. EL REY D. ALFONSO XIII/HONRO SU MEMORIA/CEDIENDO SITIO Y MARMOLES/PARA ESTE MONUMENTO/RECUERDO DE SUS COMPAÑEROS/DE PROMOCION EN HOMENAJE/AL VALOR QUE ACREDITO Y/ESTIMULO PARA IMITAR/SU EJEMPLO/MCMXI" En el frente del pilar puedo leerse: "ANGEL MELGAR Y MATA /(1876-1909)/ CAPITAN DEL BATALLON/ DE CAZADORES DE/ ARAPILES, NUMERO 9/ COMBATIENTE EN/ MELILLA DURANTE/ LA GUERRA DE AFRICA/ Y QUE FALLECIO EN LA /BATALLA DEL BARRANCO /DEL LOBO (MELILLA)/ LE FUE CONCEDIDA /LA CRUZ LAUREADA/ DE SAN FERNANDO"  La obra fue fundida en los talleres "M. Ballarín y Cai", de Barcelona D. Ángel Melgar Mata Capitán de “Los Arapiles núm. 9”, Ayudante Honorario de S.M. el Rey D. Alfonso XIII “…Al frente de tres compañías del batallón de Cazadores de Arapiles nº 9 al que pertenecía, atacó briosamente a numeroso enemigo apostado en el Barranco, alentando a su tropa y dándole constante ejemplo de valor y energía, sufriendo dos heridas, en una pierna y en el cuello, que a pesar de la importancia que debieron tener, no aminoraron ni un momento su decisión, ni fueron bastantes a impedirle continuar con igual brío el avance y la lucha, hasta que otra bala le produjo herida mortal en el pecho. Considerando que estos hechos se hallan comprendidos en el caso séptimo de artículo 27 de la ley de 18 de mayo de 1862, el Rey…,ha tenido a bien conceder al capitán don Ángel Melgar y Mata, la cruz de segunda clase de la Real y Militar Orden de San Fernando. Después, tomad nota de la última palabra de la primera línea de la placa superior del pilar, pues esta, de seis letras y todas en mayúsculas, será el CC que os permitirá registrar este TC como encontrado Espero que os guste el lugar donde he "escondido" este caché, al menos esa ha sido mi intención al "esconderlo" ahí para haceros ir a buscarlo y disfrutar tambien cuando "deis" con él. Solo me queda recordaros, parafraseando a Pitu, que: "

found the geocache
I went again to the Monumento al Capitan Melgar. This time I also had a translation from Puchimón with me (thank you!). It was very similar but it let me try again. We checked monument again for additional plaques - nothing. Just to be sure, I tried the two words which would fit with the translation again - and the second one worked now. I'm sure I did try that word before, but maybe with a typo...
So, I can now tell that this cache is still doable. Don't look at the monument itself - and type correctly 😆.

did not find the geoacache
I went to the Monumento al Capitan Melgar and took some pictures. But what ever I try, the password does not work. Maybe it gets lost in translation...
