Kaltehofe-Hauptdeich Kaltehofe (formerly also Kalte Hofe) is an artificial Elbe island in the Rothenburgsort district of Hamburg that was created by river engineering works. Kaltehofe is best known as the site of the former waterworks and hygiene institute, which is now home to the Wasserkunst Elbinsel Kaltehofe Foundation.
Kaltehofe was originally located together with Peute on the left bank of the Norderelbe. Between 1875 and 1879, a cut was made between Peute and Kaltehofe in order to straighten the course of the Norderelbe. Today, the original course of the Elbe forms Billwerder Bay and the timber harbour.
An essential part of the Elbe island is the dyke facing the Elbe. The Kaltehofe main dyke stretches from the Billwerder Bucht barrier (dyke kilometre 34.1) along the entire Elbe island and becomes the Moorfleeter main dyke at dyke kilometre 32.4.

The surrounding area Many walkers are out and about on the dyke, especially when the weather is nice. Many cyclists can also be expected, as the dyke road is the ideal cycle connection from the city centre to the Vier- und Marschlande. There are car parking facilities and a bus stop on the 530 bus route nearby.

01.04.2026 PiratencrewDK ha trovato la geocache

Das Wetter war gut das Rad bereit für eine Fahrt und so ging es einmal kreuz und quer von der Homezone durch Hamm, Rothenburgsort, Veddel, kleinen Grasbrook und wieder zurück durch Hamburg. Einige Kilometer kamen da zusammen, während die Stadt genossen wurde. Die Tour hat Spaß gemacht. Fast alle angefahrenen Caches konnten gefunden werden. Dieser Cache war mit dabei. Das Logbuch wurde signiert und alles wieder wie vorgefunden versteckt.

Als ich hier zuletzt vorbeikam, gab es diese Dose noch nicht.
Deshalb heute einen kleinen Umweg gemacht.
