Cats on Maps (Split Edition)

In Split, there are actually many cats, and some of them are even listed as attractions on Google Maps. In general, the numerous street cats shape the cityscape of Split, especially in the area of the Diocletian Palace and in the alleys of the old town.

The highest rated tourist attraction in Split, Croatia is a cat who can always be found by the harbour. He is shown on Google Maps as "Cat Tom".

My example is "Cat Tom". However, you can log any cat registered as a tourist attraction in Google Maps (in Split and the surrounding area). Always provide the coordinates of your finding location and how far your cat was from the actual location. (See example photos)

Further possibility to log:
Sometimes the entries on Google Maps are deleted. (Unfortunately, cats only have seven lives.) If you can't find any cats on Google Maps, go to the "Cats Garden." (Listing coordinates) The only garden in the Old Town is a little insider tip in Split. It's the last remaining garden within the Old Town walls. You'll almost always find a few cats there.
In the log, simply enter the location coordinates of your found cat and take a photo of it. You don't have to be in the photo.




Tips:

Street cats are generally very anxious and shy. If they can't properly assess a situation, they will flee. Keep a sufficient distance from them and remain as calm as possible. Let the cat decide whether and at what pace it wants to approach you.

Food scraps are taboo! Only feed them suitable cat food. Make sure no food remains.

It's best not to touch stray cats. Firstly, because of the cat: Even if it seems friendly, it may not want to be touched. Secondly, it's for your own protection, as you don't know the cat's health.
