This is a series of caches about the Aachen-Frankfurter-Heerstraße (AFH), the military road the German Emperors used in order to get to Aachen for their crowning ceremony. Hence the name "Krönungsstraße", which translates to "crowning road".
The Via Regia has been the most important road connecting Aachen and Frankfurt from the times of Charlemagne to the late 19th century. After being elected in Frankfurt they travelled to Aachen for their crowning ceremony.Moreover, the road was used for trading or troop movements. From Düren to Sinzig it roughly follows today's motorway 61. This section is special, as it has the steepest inclines of the entire road. The impact on the landscape is visible up to date, although many sections have vanished due to land cosolidation. But on satellite photos the course is well visible.
General information:
With this series I will only cover the AFH in the region of Grafschaft, there are a number of information posts throughout the marked hiking trail. Additional information can be found on the internet, on the information posts and at local clubs devoted to regional traditions. The hinking trail has been marked by the "Eifelverein".Every cache station is designed as a short multi-stage cache with trails under 5 km. Of cource, you can hike the whole trail at once (about 11 km, one-way!); then, it might be best to start in Eckendorf, because the station fit together best. Please follow the hinking sign "AFH" (black font on white square).The trail follows dirt roads, so hiking or (mountain-)biking is no problem, nevertheless, strollers or wheelchairs may not do the whole route. Cars or motorcycles are not allowed. After a raining peroid the road might be very muddy.
MULTI STAGE (1.2 - 2.0 km, on track: 0.6 km)
Parking is difficult in Eckendorf, please try your luck at the main street, but do not park at WPEK01!
At the village's exit to Fritzdorf, you will find a small bench with the information sign (WPEK01). On the left-hand side are some dates in a timeline. The digit sum of the 3rd date is A, the one of the last date is B. On the right-hand side, a cross ("Weißes Kreuz") with a certain year (CDCD) is described. This years digit sum is E.

Konnte trotz intesiver Suche Cache nicht finde. Steine sind vorhanden, aber keine Dose zu sehen.

Wir stehen jetzt noch in der Ecke und schämen uns!
Wir haben uns sooooo dämlich angestellt, wie man sich nur eben anstellen kann und haben für diesen Kurzmulti doch fast anderthalb Stunden gebraucht...
Und hier die Ettapen der Tragödie:
1.) Infos sammeln, Finalkoors ausrechnen (Hä? So nah? Sollte der Cache nicht 1,5-2km lang sein?), nochmal nachrechnen und los...
2.) Wir stehen an unseren GZ an einem Weg ohne Versteckmöglichkeit und schauen dumm aus der Wäsche. Nochmals nachrechnen, aber alles ok... ???
3.) Wir gehen zu WP 1 zurück und kontrollieren unsere Werte. Alle ok! Hä?
4.) Nach mehrmaligem Lesen des Listings fällt uns auf: da steht gar nichts von einstelliger, sondern einfacher Quersumme... Na, das hätte der Owner aber auch rot einkreisen können[;)]... Wir korrigieren unser A und B und ziehen frohen Mutes wieder los. Ist diesmal auch viel weiter weg. Wie konnten wir uns bloß so dämlich anstellen?
5.) 50m vor GZ wird klar: der Final liegt im Rübenacker oder wir haben schon wieder Mist gerechnet.
Wir kontrollieren nochmal unsere Rechnung und...hä???
6.) Oh man.. wie kann man nur so dämlich sein??? E hatten wir nicht angepasst. Wütend auf uns selbst machen wir uns nun auf den Weg zu den richtigen Finalkoors...
7.) 200m vorher ist klar: hier geht es nicht weiter... um auf den richtigen Weg zu kommen, müssten wir 2 Höhenmeter durch einen Brombeer-Brennessel-Hang absteigen... mit kurzen Hosen? Nee...
Also, wieder auf bereits gut bekanntem Weg zurpck zu WP1 [}:)]...
8.) Das Finden der Dose mit richtigen Koordinaten auf dem richtigen Weg war überhaupt kein Problem, zumal die Dose fast ungetarnt auf dem Boden lag.
Die gewünschte Einschätzung der Wertung?
Eigentlich ist es ja total simpel, wenn man genau das tut, was der Owner im Listing schreibt.
Eigentlich D1/T2...
Vielen Dank für's Aufmerksam machen auf diesen Krönungsweg, von dem ich noch nie gehört hatte.
