For quite a while I had the idea of placing a cache in the sandstone quarries of Obernkirchen. These quarries are in operation since the 11th century (longer than the coal mines in this area) and are famous for the high quality of the stone. It was used to build famous buildings like the town hall of Bremen and parts of the cathedrals of Cologne and Xanten. Along the course of the river Weser you will find a lot of buildings constructed in the so called “Weser-Renaissance” style using the stone that was cut here. Big quantities of the stones have been transported to the nearby town of Rinteln using a railroad from Stadhagen to Rinteln with a branch to the quarries. From Rinteln it went by boat downstream.
A few hundered meters from the cache in the active part of the quarries they discovered numerous and impressing footprints of dinosaurs.

The final is located at N 52° 15 . (A-1221) / E 9° 11 . (A-1028)
On the way to the final follow the path through the forest and down into the quarry. You will pass some stone sculptures created during a sculptor symposium.

Heute war es endlich soweit, angeloggt vom tollen Wetter zogen wir los um noch etwas Sonne zu tanken [:)]
Gemeinsam mit meiner Henne, Adassa76 und DL6YST, gingen wir zum zweiten Mal die Südwand an. Beim ersten Versuch standen *Ironie ein* die Meister der Navigation *Ironie aus* also Henne und ich schon auf der Dose, leider höher als uns lieb war [:D] [:D] [:D] Heute hingegen lief es dann besser und wir konnten uns schnell verewigen. Diese aussergewöhnliche Location war mir bereits bekannt, aber zu entdecken gibt es hier immer was [:D]
Toller Kurzmulti, der einiges zeigt. Dankeschön fürs herführen. Hat uns gefallen [8D]

Heute waren wir in dieser schönen Gegend zu den Dinos unterwegs, und auch, um diesen doch recht alten Multi zu besuchen. Nach Lösung der Startaufgabe haben wir uns über den interessanten Final-Ort sehr gefreut, und mit der Frage, "ist das Kunst oder nur 'über'" hatten wir viel Spaß - aber auch mit dem Rückweg über die sehr sumpfige Südostroute, die Iguanodonten hätten ihre Freude gehabt!
