[FI] Sateisen illan kierroksella. Säästä johtuen mietin, ettei metsäkierros välttämättä olisi hyvä idea, ja sitten muistin, että minulla on ollut jo pitkään geocaching.com:in kätkö GCW2N5 "Joys of Caching" (https://coord.info/GCW2N5) to do -listalla. Suuntasin ensimmäisenä Seurasaareen ja sen jälkeen tänne. Tämä oli 12. opencaching.de -löytöni ja kolmas fyysinen löytämäni OpenCache. Täällä hommaa helpotti kierroksen muihin pisteisiin verrattuna sen, että opencaching.de on yhdistettävissä c:geoon (vastaava ei ilmeisesti onnistu terrakätköjen ja NaviCachen osalta, geocaching.com.au:lla taas on oma sovelluksensa), joten nollapisteen haarukointi sujui tuttuun tapaan.

Homma kuitenkin alkoi käydä jännittäväksi siinä kohtaa, kun ykköskännykästä loppui akku päästyäni melkein nollapisteelle asti. Asia ihmetytti hieman, koska se oli ollut matkalla latausjohdon päässä autossa, mutta autolle palattuani huomasin, että latausjohdon toinen pää oli irronnut, mikä selitti, miksei kännykkä ollut latautunut. Ongelma meinasi tulla siitä, että kakkoskännykässä en ollut kirjautunut c:geossa opencaching.de -sivustolle vielä. Hetken sain miettiä, mutta sitten salasana muistui mieleen ja pääsin jatkamaan etsintää.

Etsintään sitten taisikin mennä täällä kaikista kauimmin näistä neljästä kätköstä. Puhelimella, jota normaalisti en käytä kätköilyyn, tuntui olevan vaikeuksia saada tarkkaa fiksiä, joten lopulta rupesin tarkastelemaan maastoa järjestelmällisesti arvioidun nollapisteen ympäristöstä. Aika monta koloa sai tutkia ennen kuin piilopaikka lopulta löytyi. Näin hyvän piilon osalta en ihmettele yhtään, että kätkö on säilynyt paikallaan reilut 14 vuotta.

Tämä taitaa olla Suomen suosituin avokätkö (uusi sana minulle, opin kätkötiedotteesta!), enkä ihmettele yhtään. Kaikki löytäjät tosin eivät taida logata näitä vaihtoehtoisten sivustojen löytöjä nettiin, vaikka nimi vihkosta löytyykin: tämä toteutui erityisesti navicachen kohdalla, mutta myös tämän kätkön kohdalla edellinen loggaus netissä ennen minua oli kirjattu 18.11.2017, mutta edellinen kirjaus lokivihkossa oli kirjattu 26.4.2020.

[EN] Because of the rainy weather, I thought that a longer geocaching trip to the woods would not be a good idea. Then I remembered that I have had the geocaching.com mystery cache GCW2N5 "Joys of Caching" (https://coord.info/GCW2N5) on my to-do list for a quite long time. I started the trip in Seurasaari and continued here. This was my 12th find at opencaching.de and my third physical OpenCache find. Finding this cache was made easier by the fact that it is possible to connect opencaching.de to c:geo (which is apparently not possible with TerraCaches and NaviCaches, while geocaching.com.au has its own app), which made locating the GZ easier.

Things got interesting when my usual geocaching phone shut down while less than a hundred metres away from the GZ. That made me curious, as I had had the charging cord connected to the phone while driving here. After returning to the car later, I found out that the other end of the cord was disconnected, which solved that mystery. However, I had not connected the c:geo app on my other phone to opencaching.de yet, so I had to think a while before I remembered my password and could continue the search.

This was the hardest one to find of all of these four caches. My backup phone seemed to have problems in obtaining an accurate GPS fix here, so I had no other choice than methodically checking every possible hiding place near the GZ. After checking quite a few places I finally found the correct one. No wonder the cache has survived for 14 years, this was a rather difficult hide!

This is apparently the most popular OpenCache in Finland, which is no surprise to me. Apparently all visitors do not log these alternative caches online, even though they have logged the physical cache: this was definitely the case with the navicache, but even there the last online log was made in November 18th, 2017, while the last name in the logbook was written on April 26th, 2020.

TB stamp (trackable @ geocaching.com) in.

After two or three  DNFs at my own cache, I had chosen an exceptionally warm early Summer day to locate this. Once again I confirmed that original hideout was empty - granted - it's too challenging for the new & lazy generation of geocachers. 10 minutes later I found the new hideout. Almost equally challenging but in substantially easier terrain. I dried the documents and measured new coordinates so at the new hideout it shall remain

Kk. Kyllähän tämän etsintään taisi vähintään vartti mennä. Varsin paljon oli tarjolla mahdollisia paikkoja ja niitä sitten kävinkin läpi. Kun ei mitään alkanut löytyä, niin siirryin lueskelemaan löytölogeja ja sieltähän löytyikin pari juttua, joiden avulla sitten ajauduin oikeaan paikkaan. Kävi niin kuin jollekin aiemmallekin kävijälle, että olin ensin etsinyt turhan haasteellisista paikoista. Hyvässä jemmassa tuo kyllä on, rohkenen epäillä että ei tule vahingossa löydetyksi jonkun ei-kätköilijän toimesta. Kiitokset.
