You find a parkinglot at N47 32.991 E013 37.848 .
Follow now the way near the creek.
On the other side you can see (or sometimes not ;)) the Schleierwasserfall (veilwaterfall)
Short before the last bridge you find the way to the Gletschergarten - but you have to cross the Strubbridge and follow the way to the cachetitle - From here on the way get steeper.
According to the high mountains surrounding you - the coordinates (if you get some) maybe a bit off. Anyway - to get to the cachelocation you have to follow the way to the end..
A real powerplace. After finding the cache -300m back on the way you find the Gangsteig. If you climb this path up , you can return over a stonebridge to the Gletschergarten , and down to the Strubbridge.
Way back on the other side of the creek you can take a closer look to the 'Schleierwasserfall', discover the Eulenloch....near the parkinglot you find a bridge.
No risk is necessary to get the cache!

Hund (oldest active cache in austria)so here a short waydescription: Follow
from Gangsteig (or over the Gletschergarten and the Stonebridge) direction
Northeast on the forestroad - after approx. 5 km and 600m altitude (from parkinglot)
you reach the Salzberg - and the way up from Hallstatt (to 'Salzig
Hund' from parkinglot 9 km - longer, but less steep, so walkingtime
maybe nearly the same as from Hallstatt).

Als wir oben auf dem Salzberg angekommen waren, ging es darum, wie wir von diesem Berg wieder runterkommen. Zeit hatten wir genug :) also peilten wir diesen Cache, sozusagen die Tour von oben rückwärts an. Immerhin klang der Weg sehr spannend :) Und der war auch einfach nur genial :) Zum Glück war es trocken, trittsicher sind wir auch (zumindest ich) und wenn man auf den Weg achtet ist man auch Schwindelfrei (ich bin es von Haus aus). Ein sehr cooler und abendteuerlicher Abstieg, und dann noch der Wasserfall: Einfach genial :)

Nach der Wanderung über den Salzberg den Gangsteig heruntergeklettert und hier zum Wasserfall abgebogen. Ohne den Cache hätten wir diese Stelle wohl nicht angesteuert.
Faszinierend fand ich hier nicht nur den Wasserfall, sondern insbesondere die Windverhältnisse: Aus irgendeinem Grund, der mir physikalisch noch nicht ganz klar ist, bildete sich zumindest bei unserem Besuch hier ein extrem starker Fallwind am Boden der Schlucht. Am Cache hat man ihn deutlich gespürt, aber richtig heftig war er an der unteren Aussichtsplattform, während es am Weg fast windstill war. Spielt hier der Sog der vom Wasser mitgerissenen Luft eine Rolle (in der Art einer Wasserstrahlpumpe), oder vielleicht eher, dass die Luft beim Kontakt mit dem aufgewirbelten Wasser sehr schnell und stark abgekühlt wird und dadurch nach unten sinkt? Auf jeden Fall hat sich hier doch ein sehr spezielles Mikroklima gebildet.

Da bin ich wie der Owner im Zuge des Besuches des Salzig Hundes vorbei gekommen.
Ich wählte den Gangsteig als Abstieg . Wahnsinn, was da die Leute vor langer langer Zeit für einen irren Steig in die Wand gebaut haben.
Der Wasserfall ist jedes Mal sehr beeindruckend. Besonders nach den vielen Regenfällen der letzten Tage ist das ein wahres Spektakel.

Gemeinsam mit Team brandy 1965 und meiner besseren hälfte ging's nach einen ausgedehnten Hallstattbesuch inklusive Fütterung bei mittlerweile deutlich besserem Wetter hierher zu diesem wunderschönen Platzerl. Die Dose war schnell gefunden und unauffällig geloggt. TB in, Empfehlung muss !
