The Pope's Cross
Ever since Pope John Paul II paid a visit to Vienna in 1985, there has been a beautiful, large, modern steel cross standing in the Danube Park.
Accessibility
If you use public transport, get off at U1 station Kaisermühlen.
The location is situated in the middle of the park, so going there by bike is easy.
There is enough parking space available around the park.
The cache
It is a Lock&Lock Box 13*10*7 cm.
People smaller that 1.70m might have problems reaching the cache. It is not necessary to climb on the base. Please rehide the cache accordingly.

Dieser Cache ist seit mehr als einem Jahr „momentan nicht verfügbar“; daher wird er automatisch archiviert. Er kann vom Besitzer jederzeit instand gesetzt und reaktiviert werden.

Weiterhin keine Entscheidung ueber die Zukunft des Kreuzes. Der Cache musste deshalb auf GC archiviert werden. Er bleibt aber hier auf OC bis auf weiteres disabelt.

Still no decision about the future of the cross. So the cache needed to be archived on GC. Here on OC for the time beeing I leave it in a disabled state.

Still no sign of refurbishment of the cross. Since the fence is still present the cache keeps beeing disabled.
Der Zaun steht leider noch immer ohne sichtbarem Beginn von Renovierungsarbeiten.

The monument will be refurbished, thats why the fence is present (thanks to Kottan for his investigations). Although it's unclear when the work will begin I remove the box for the time beeing.
Da das Kreuz reperaturbeduerftig ist und renoviert werden soll (danke an Kottan fuer die Nachfrage bei der MA-42) wird der Cache bis auf weiteres disabelt.

Maintenance-Log:
New logbook and new box installed.
Der Cache ist nicht mehr magnetisch und sollte sich immer 2 Meter ueber dem Grund befinden.
