Emden-1 reloaded

Emden's Historic Steam Engine

In front of Emden's main train station is a very special historical exhibit, namely the railroad engine used to pull the last regular steam powered train by the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Built in 1943, this engine was in service until October 26th, 1977, when it was decommissioned at 4:04 p.m., thereby ending the era of steam powered trains on German rails.

On December 6th, 1981 the engine was put up as a historical exhibit at its current location, to grant visitors a glimpse into the past of railroading. The driver's cabin is unlocked throughout most of the year, so you might climb up and revisit your childhood dreams of running a mighty steam engine. While you are there, please rummage through your pockets for some loose change to put into the collection box, to support the club maintaining this site.

Another cache at this location, Emden-1, had to be archived because it had been muggled multiple times. Since I liked this spot so much, I decided to give it another shot at a slightly different hiding place. The box measures 0.5l and is big enough to hold TBs and small trade items.

Please make extra sure to be unobserved when searching for and logging this cache. If you can not guarantee not to have an audience (after all, this place is the hot spot of Emden's vibrant*cough* skateboarding scene), you are allowed to log this cache without signing the log book, provided that you post a picture of the engine with your log entry.
