Der U-Bahnhof Thielplatz wurde 1913 als Bestandteil der Wilmerdorf-Dahlemer-Schnellbahn eingeweiht und sollte als Verkehranbindung der Forschungseinrichtungen der Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gesellschaft dienen. Der gesamte Bahnhof hat eine Länge von 907 Metern und ist, wie auch die nahegelegende Allee samt Park, nach Hugo Thiel, dem preußischen Ministerialdirektor für Landwirtschaft, Domänen und Forsten, benannt.
Beim Cache handelt es sich um einen kleinen Nano am (!) Gebäude.
