In contrast to all other big mountains in the Bavarian and Upper Palatinate Forest the Osser crag consists of mica slate and quartzites. The conditions at the time of creation of this stones were different from those of the other predominant granites and gneisses.
They arised from argillaceous deposition which where transformed under high temperature and pressure in the interior of the earth.

Heute eine schöne Osser-Runde gedreht, leider hing er in den Wolken und eine Fernsicht blieb uns verwehrt - sei's drum, dennoch konnten wir noch ein paar Caches mitnehmen!
