Abendlicher City-Lauf: Keplerberücke DNF - Friedenspark Found - Keplerbrücke DNF - Urban Micro Found...

Super!

Well, a few hours after I had the film canister in my hands I am still not really able to write a log that reflects my emotions well.

Today was my fourth attempt to reach the cache. Two of the three previous attempts had lasted about half an hour each, the third one was shorter. I cannot think of any other cache that left me that much frustrated and depressed though I need to stress that the reason was not the cache itself (which is nice as I wrote before). My failure reminded me of other negative experiences in my life that came up again.

The feedback I got from some cachers telling me that climbing up to the cache is way easier than climbing up a ladder, left me quite confused as for me the latter is much easier. I am still wondering how people manage to walk around in the climbing wall like I walk on the floor.

I would not have made another attempt so shortly after my failures if there had not been a very special young woman who ist not only charming, but who also has a great heart and is a very empathic person, yet very convincing and consequent if necessary. Her name is leelah. She convinced me to meet her at the cache location to have yet another attempt. I need to admit that I agreed with the idea in my mind to convince her that I am not able to reach the cache. Nevertheless I decided to come better equipped this time than the last time, i.e. with a pullover I could wear while climbing (at previous attempts I had to put off my jacket and it was getting cold after about 30 minutes) and with my jogging trousers which is more convenient for climbing than my jeans.

When Leelah arrived, I asked her to show me her way up the wall. I realized that I need to use a different strategy. At first I felt that I would fail at the same point than at my previous attempts. After a while I managed, however, to get one level higher than ever before. I would not have been able to accomplish that without the moral and physical support of leelah who was standing behind me and giving me a much better feeling. After hesitating for quite a while I suddenly managed to move my left hand up to a higher handle. (Again Leelah's presence and support was essential for that.) The rest was then relatively easy though I was standing only on one leg as I could not find a place for my second leg - I would have needed to climb up one level higher, something not manageable for me today, but fortunately it was necessary.
It was not easy to retrieve the cache as I was not standing in a stable position. I dropped some camouflage material, but Leelah kindly helped me again. I then climbed down, logged the cache and after a while I climbed up again tp put the cache at it's place. Leelah was so kind to put back the camouflage material to ensure that the cache is well covered. Afterwards we used other parts of the wall to climb (Leelah got up very high) to make people believe that we came for climbing and to reduce the attention to a special location.

After a while Leelah detected two people who turned out to be cachers as well. We met Gert and rabat. At first we spent quite some time to chat at the location of the cache. After almost all of our group felt very cold, we decided to visit a warmer place. I enjoyed chatting with Gert, Leelah and rabat and was glad that we found a surprisingly quiet place (something which appears to be quite rare in the days before Christmas in the inner city). It was a very nice evening which I will keep in my memories forever.

Part 2:
I am very happy today. I regained some hope that I might be able to at least learn some basic climbing skills if I am trying hard and patiently enough (something which is still one of my long-lasting dreams) and manage to find the right teachers.

10000 thanks go to Leelah and to some other people who tried to cheer me up during the last days when I felt very bad (special thanks are due to Alice). Without the support of Alice over the last years, I would not have any chance at all to accomplish what I managed today. Almost all I know about hiking, climbing and my typical faults I know due to Alice who taught me a lot.

I forgot to mention that Leelah is apparently also a Christmas angel. She managed indeed that a Christmas miracle happened.

My final promise to Leelah:
I will try to keep in mind what you told me at the cache location after I had logged the cache.

This was a very hard cache for me (even if it was so easy for most other finders) bringing me to my limits in many respects, also with respect of my ability to cope with frustrations. In any case, the cache was, however, worth the effort of trying to reach it several times. Thus thanks are also to gebu, the hider of the cache.

Danke an Gebu

Je suis venu, j'ai vu et j'ai perdu .

Since I know the area well, I had the correct idea where the cache is to be found right away (only the log of aj-gps puzzled me for a moment). Although it was clear to me right away that it would be a bad idea to visit the location and have a look at the situation, I could not resist an hour ago and made a small detour to visit the location. What I experienced there was a kind of déjà-vu. Apparently I will have to become acquainted with the idea of standing in front of caches, knowing where I would need to go to, but still failing to accomplish the task.

After almost 30 minutes which I spent without a jacket, I gave up - I had to realize what I should have known in advance anyway: physical and mental limits/barriers kept from reaching what I would liked to achieve. Christmas miracles do not happen in my life.

The idea is nice. Normal people will manage to reach the cache. So do not feel discouraged by my log.

Nice quick FTF on my way to work
Expected something different because I already knew the area and had a quick look at the terrain rating - but then it was rather straight forward
Thanks.
