X-Mas 06 Letterbox

Wegen Waldschlägereien und Saisonende wird die X-Mas 06 Letterbox nun archiviert. Wir hoffen euch hat dieser Cache genau so viel Freude bereitet wie uns.

Hallo miteinander

zuerst nie in diese Grazer Region gekommen und dann war Weihnachten vorbei. Macht ja nix, das Silvester kommt ja auch noch. Wieder nie Zeit für diese Letterbox gefunden.

Heute haben wir uns endlich einmal Zeit genommen um diese Letterbox zu suchen. Diese hat sich aber mit Händen und Füssen gewehrt das wir einen Joker einsetzen haben müssen.

Die Letterbox war relativ einfach zu finden, nur schade das der Weihnachtsmarkt nicht geöffnet hatte, ein paar Glühweine hätten uns ein wenig gewärmt...

Well, today was definitely not my day. Since this letterbox showed up later than last year and I did not have time to visit it during the week, I had to hurry up and visit it today to have some realistic chance that the Christmas card I want to send via this letterbox reaches it's destination in time.

To save time, I decided to combine this cache and another one with my weekly shopping and thus came by car. It would have been nicer to come by bicycle - I know the route via Judendorf/Gratwein very well as I prefer it by far to the one via Gratkorn. I did not look up the starting coordinates at the map and for some reason I though that the Christmas markt would be a small one and close to the church. So I went up the hill just to realize that the Christmas market lies somewhere else. Anyway, the advantage was that I could visit the church again of which I like the Gothic parts very well and that I walked up at least some height meters. While it was foggy in the morning and became foggy again in the afternoon, it was sunny when I visited the cache.

Probably the fact that I came from another direction than intended made the task more difficult for me. Moreover, I was not in the right mood today for searching for a cache box and read the description too hastily making me miss the information that the cache is hidden at a tree. Therefore, I first searched in a wrong area because I was looking for a more characteristic hideout. I would not like to visit this area in Summer time - even now it was quite thorny. After some time I read the description again which helped me somewhat, but still I needed a few more minutes to find the cache.

I like the idea behind the Christmas letterbox cache and I appreciate the fact that the cache has been revived this year. Thank you to Waldläufer and to the Waldschrats (it appears to be hard to beat the artistically appealing hand writing of Waldläufer ). Personally, I would, however, have preferred a hideout a bit more away from civilization.

I was not aware of the fact that the Christmas market is open only on Sundays (so tomorrow is the last chance if you want to see it). On the other hand, I am not that fanatic about Christmas markets anyhow, but typically Christmas markets on the country side are nicer from my point of view than those in cities which have mainly degenerated to loud places where people meet and drink lots of alcohol.

LonesomeConebag und TheCryptkeeper haben uns heute gemeinsam aufgemacht um die X-Mas Letterbox zu besuchen. 3 Mann mit 3 GPSr und die Augen immer fest aufs Display gerichtet wären wir ja beinahe am Versteck vorbeispaziert. Trotzdem schnell gefunden. Danke für diesen tollen Cache.

So, jetzt hab ich endlich meinen ersten X-MAS-Letterbox Cache gefunden. Das Terrain-Rating sollte ein klein wenig nach oben verschoben werden, Kinderwagen & Fahrräder kommen die letzten 10m nicht hinauf.
