Some background The University of Graz "Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz" (Latin: "Carola-Franciscea") is both the second-largest and second-oldest university in Austria. It was founded in 1585 by Archduke Karl II of Inner Austria with a faculty of philosophy and a faculty of theology. In 1778 the faculty of law was founded. 1782 the university was transformed into a Lycée and a medical-chirurgical course of study was established. 1827 it was re-opened as Karl-Franzens-University by emperor Franz I. 1863 the faculty of medicine was established and full university status reached. 1895 the main building of today's campus area was opened. 1999 the number of students reached an all-time high of 32.000 people. 2004 the faculty of medicine became an autonomous university. Today the university houses 6 faculties, 73 scientific institutes and educates about 22.000 students. Every year 2.400 students graduate, including 200 doctoral degrees. It offers 70 studies with about 9.000 courses and has 1700 full-time employees. On top of the main building you'll find 8 monuments: Aristoteles, Augustinus, Grotius, Leibniz, Newton, Kant, da Vinci and Hippokrates. A well-known professor at the university was Erwin Schrödinger (Theoretical Physics, 1936-1938), whom you might know from the "Schrödinger's cat" imaginary experiment. More information can be found on the Universities website. There is even a movie available on YouTube. Cache The cache is a micro. It used to be a small but that one disappeared together with the hideout when the emergency stairs of the nearby building were torn down. Good luck. |

ha encontrado el geocache
Nach der Ankunft in Graz und dem Checkin im Hotel, aber noch vor dem Abendessen (wir hatten ein gross es Frühstück und ein spätes Mittagessen im Zug unterwegs nach Graz) wollte ich noch raus und etwas tun. Dieser auch als OC veröffentlichte Cache in der Nähe kam da wie gelegen. Ich kam da hin zur Karl-Franzens-Universität und es war eine ziemliche Ping-Pong-Par im gang. Trotzdem denke ich das ich den Käsch ohne gross auf zu fallen Logen konnte.
Dankeschön aj-gps für meinen erstes Geo-Schachterl in Graz.
Anschliessend lief ich etwas durch die Gassen und hielt nach einem geeigneten Restaurant für das Abendessen Ausschau. Gar nicht so einfach in der Gegend hier. Entweder nur auf Reservierung für 150€ oder dan mit Krebsfleisch im Vegigericht...

Ein spontaner Spaziergang mit Saphiraa7, mit dem Hinweis ein schneller Fund. Der Cache wirkt gut gepflegt, TFTC

Heute
an diesem besonderen Tag konnten wir diesen Cache schnell finden und
loggen. Die Dose lag am Boden, da dessen Befestigungsmechanismus
gebrochen war. Wir haben ihn nach dem Loggen wieder dem Hinweis
entsprechend versteckt...
