| At the coordinates you will find a memorial stone
to consolidation of farming in Ahlten. Ahlten is one of 14
villages, which belonged to the 'Große Freien'. The settlers of
the 'Große Freien' enjoying special rights of freedom. These
settlers has been called 'Die Freien vor den Nordwald', meaning '
the freeman before the Northern Forest'. The 'Nordwald' was
in Medieval times a large connected forest between
