Initially, it was built as a sea mark - the Kugelbake in Cuxhaven.

The Kugelbake is a historic sea mark at the point, where the river Elbe flows into the North Sea. The first Kugelbake was built here in the year 1703, it was used as lighthouse. Today, ships use more modern tools for navigation, but the Kugelbake is still a symbol of Cuxhaven and a touristical attraction.

Depending on the season you need to pay an admission fee in order to get to the Kugelbake.
