Nobody will argue that we need mobile GPS receivers for our hobby. But probably everyone of us had already had a problem with inaccurate coordinates. Whether they come from the GPS receiver or not carefully measured coordinates by the owner is difficult to tell.
In case your GPS receiver is the problem, you will find it out here! At the given coordinates you will find the reference point for GPS receivers in the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr. Further information can be found here (unfortunately only in German).
log conditions:
Visit the reference point. Put your GPS receiver on the middle of the plate and compare your coordinates with the ones shown on the plate. Please comment on the accuracy of your machine in your log entry (ideally with mentioning the type of GPS you are using). If you can also provide a picture, it is even better.
On the eastern side of the stone you will find letters ingraved in the stone. These letters are needed as a password to log this cache online.
By the way, my GPS (Garmin etrex 30) gave me the following data:
coordinates: N 51° 25.410' E 006° 52.570'
altitude: 33 m
This is good enough for me.

Heute war ich in der Gegend unterwegs. Da habe ich natürlich die Gelegenheit genutzt mein GPS zu testen.
Als Koordinaten-Einheit habe ich UTM eingestellt, dass verdeutlicht einem die Meter am einfachsten, auch wenn keine Stelle hinter dem Komma zu finden ist. Mein GPS zeigte 352 340 Ost, 5 699 081 Nord an. Somit zeigte mein Gerät 1,7 Meter zuviel gen Osten und 1,9 Meter zu wenig gen Norden an. Damit kann ich gut leben. Wenn ich mal wieder in der Gegend bin wird natürlich noch einmal eingemessen.

Eine schöne Idee, der Punkt ist ja offen zu sehen.
Mein Navi ist in meinem POCO Handy versteckt.
Auf dem Referenzpunkt stehen die Koordinaten in Grad, Minuten, Skunden, daher habe ich auch so gemessen

Ich bin heute mit der Firma auf einer Messe hier in Mülheim. Nach dem Frühstück und vor Beginn der Messe habe ich mir noch etwas die Beine vertreten. Dabei habe ich diesen Cache entdeckt.
