Since the tidal movements vary depending on the date and time of year, I unfortunately can’t provide specific times for you. I’d recommend checking out the St. Michael’s Mount visitor site (under causeway opening times) before the day of your visit. This way you can plan ahead.

For the complete experience, I recommend to take a boat out to the island at high tide, and then walk across at low tide. The monastery is quite small and shouldn’t take more than an hour or two to explore.
The legend
Cornish legends tell of a giant named Cormoran who lived on the island during the days of King Arthur. The giant terrorized the local villages until a farmer’s son named Jack trapped the giant in a pit and killed him with an ax, earning the boy the title “Jack the Giant Killer.” Jack threw the dismembered pieces of the giant in the well. But not the giant’s heart. That has turned to stone and is set in the walk further up the path.
Another legend has it that if you stand still and listen hard you’re still able to hear the pounding beat of the giant’s heart. So when you climb the Mount take a moment to stop and listen for the beating of a giant’s heart.
Find the heart and make a photo.
Be sure to find the giant’s stone heart hidden in the cobblestones walkway.
Optionally: Also be sure to make a wish touching the bedrock stone at the mount’s highest point.
By the side of the ancient church, the highest point of the Mount’s bedrock is clearly seen. Many believe that a truly romantic wish made touching this stone will be granted, especially before a proposal to marry.
