It's no surprise that Santiago de Compostela, with its long history and the countless people who have traversed its streets, is an inexhaustible source of legends, stories, and myths.
One of these legends stems from the silhouette projected daily onto one of the cathedral's facades: the shadow of a pilgrim, dressed in a wide-brimmed hat, carrying a walking stick, a pumpkin, and a cloak. This apparition is simply the result of chance, where the shadow of a granite column in the Plaza de A Quintana forms this figure as soon as night falls and the lights are switched on. However, numerous interpretations exist, ranging into the magical and supernatural, and going far beyond this natural and logical explanation.
