Polarhummel (Bombus polaris)
Diese Art lebt in der arktischen Tundra, z. B. in Grönland und Nordkanada. Sie gehört zu den nördlichsten lebenden Hummeln der Welt. Die Königin ist etwa 18 mm groß. Besonders faszinierend ist ihre Anpassung an kurze Sommer: Sie muss extrem schnell ein Volk aufbauen, bevor der Winter zurückkehrt.
