With
this cache I would like to lead you to an interesting and worth seeing
place, the former Schülesche Kattunfabrik (calico factory). Here,
unfortunately, it does not look any more as in the following picture
from the end of the 18th century.
It
concerns an important monument of the industrial architecture and one
of the earliest preserved factory buildings of Germany generally. Till
1996 it was a horseshoe-shaped 3 wing arrangement with representative,
palatial rococo facade, established in 1770-1772 from Leonhard Christian
Mayr (1725-1810) for the calico manufacturer Johann Heinrich Schüle.
The early-classicistic court fence (about 1775) is since 1976 on the
Fronhof near the Augsburg cathedral. The building plot, originally a
garden situated near the Wolfsmühle, had been bought at an auction in
1758 by Schüle for 4500 guilders. In 1996 the side wings of the building
were pulled down, because of supposed deterioration, in spite of
massive protests. Merely the east part with the listed facade has been
preserved. Today the anew established side wings of glass and the
historical middle tract accommodate the Faculty of Design of the
University of Applied Sciences - Fachhochschule.

To
find parking places here is very difficult. Best of all, you come by
bicycle. Alternatively you take the tramway line 6, get out at the stop
"Hochschule Augsburg" and simply walk around a few steps on the right around
the glass building.
Stage 1: N 48 ° 21.500' E 010 ° 54.340'
(= the above start co-ordinates)
Come here in to the inner courtyard of the former Schülesche Kattunfabrik, admire the nice arrangement and look around for the flying piglet.
The inner courtyard is surrounded by three parts of the building.
On an orange info board near the flying piglet the parts of the building are shown and marked with identity letters.
Investigate:
A = Letter value of the part of the building towards which the piglet is flying.
B = Letter value of the opposite part of the building.
C = Letter value of the part of the building which concludes the courtyard in the north-east.
(Letter value = position of the identity letter of the part of the building in the alphabet)
Final: N 48° 21.(39 * A + C)' E 010° 54.(33 * B + A)'

found the geocache
