Stollenwörthweiher

The Middle High German word "stollen" means top, peak or corner. The word "wörth" means island. At this place there was a former island in a river channel of the Neckar. 1828 was the area cleared in anticipation of the breakthrough of the Rhine. The Stollenwörthweiher is a former gravel pond in Neckarau.

Since 1956 the lake is used for swimming. Here are two baths: The Heinz-Hunsinger-Bath, which is operated by the Volkstümlicher Wassersportverein Mannheim, and the Summer Bath that is attended by the Schwimmverein Mannheim.
