Introduction

This is a virtual Geocaching of the Safari type. To log this Geocaching you must complete the task described below.

Background

The inspiration for this caching comes from an individual search on PlantNet.org where we looked for the Bunium balnearicum plant belonging to the Apiaceae family.

According to Wikipedia it is a common plant in Spain and exists in almost all regions. However, no entry is found for this plant. To learn more about flower identification and complete this collection we have created this cache. The main objective is to take a photo of the plant with its flowers and / or fruits and upload it to PlantNet.org.

Prerequisites and difficulty

1. Preparation

It is possible to participate in this Geocaching-Safari independently. Since it is part of a larger game, however, we recommend playing the full game, described below in Minecraft Botany.

2. Season and hours

This plant blooms and bears fruit from June to August, therefore it can only be played at this time of year. The schedule is less relevant, but a time of day with good light is recommended, to be able to take a good photo of the plant.

3. Accessibility

In principle, this plant can be found anywhere where there is vegetation, including some alcitrained place or parking lot, but in general it is easier to find it in the middle of a meadow or a liego field.

So it is not recommended for people in wheelchairs. With the new technologies it is probably possible to register the plant being blind, but we are not sure, and we would not know how to do it, so we cannot recommend it.

Otherwise it is an easy and entertaining task for the whole family. Due to the temporality, problems due to scratches should not be expected, we still recommend taking it into account. For those allergic to grasses, bananas and olive trees is a viable activity, since they only overlap in the month of July.

4. Duration

It is difficult to say how long this task lasts, it also depends a bit on luck.

5. Specific knowledge

A good knowledge of floral taxonomy and a good botanical key are necessary.

6. Previous knowledge

This Geocaching-Safari is part of a Minecraft game about botany that takes place on the MineFriggs server called Botany. It is more entertaining if you play it in the context of this interactive game and you find yourself as a clue in the Apian village.

To participate (for free) you must register on our Discord server: https://discord.gg/vucE6yJmJw

(The Minecraft Botany server hosting is located on a variable local server, this is why it is important to be subscribed to Discord).

You can also find more information on our Blog: https://mine-biologist.blogspot.com/
