A nagyvázsonyi vár a 15. században nyerte el ma is látható, jellegzetes formáját, amikor Mátyás király a hadvezérének, Kinizsi Pálnak adományozta. A vár leglátványosabb része a 28 méter magas lakótorony, amely a késő gótikus építészet egyik legszebb hazai példája. Az erődítmény soha nem hódolt be a töröknek ostrommal, falaiban ma is ott lüktet a középkori vitézi élet emlékezete. A toronyból nyíló panoráma pedig felejthetetlen élményt nyújt a Balaton-felvidék és a Bakony találkozásánál.

Látnivalók a várban

• A lakótorony: Öt szintnyi történelem, korhűen berendezett termekkel és a tetejéről nyíló pazar kilátással.
• Várkápolna és Kinizsi sírja: A hely, ahol a nagy hadvezér vörös márvány sírfedlapja ma is látható.
• Rendezvények: Nyaranként lovagi tornák és várjátékok idézik fel a dicső múltat.

Die Burg von Nagyvázsony erhielt ihre heutige Form im 15. Jahrhundert, als König Matthias sie seinem legendären General Paul Kinizsi schenkte. Der spektakulärste Teil der Anlage ist der 28 Meter hohe Wohnturm, eines der schönsten Beispiele spätgotischer Architektur in Ungarn. Die Festung wurde nie durch Belagerung von den Türken eingenommen. Heute beherbergt sie ein Museum, das das ritterliche Leben des Mittelalters lebendig werden lässt.

The castle of Nagyvázsony gained its current form in the 15th century, when King Matthias gifted it to his legendary general, Paul Kinizsi. The most prominent feature is the 28-meter-high residential tower, one of the finest examples of late Gothic architecture in Hungary. The fortress was never taken by the Turks through siege. Today, it stands as a monument to medieval chivalry, offering a breathtaking panorama of the Bakony Mountains and the Balaton Uplands.
