Description    Deutsch  ·  English

Because we so often hasten past it! A short memorial cache at the station of Attnang-Puchheim.

This station was opened in 1860.
In 1877, it is the junction between the crown prince Rudolf-railway (Salzkammergut railway) and the empress Elisabeth-railway (Western railway).

It was the terminal and transshipment station of Austria's first coal railway and target of a bombing on 21 April 1945.

2 memorials remind of this attack and its impacts.

You can find one of them at the Salzkammergut platform. It is in memory of those people who were murdered during the cleaning-up work after the attack. It was designed and set up by teachers and students of the vocational school Attnang in the course of a project during the school year 2002/2003.

The second memorial is a lokomotive of the 1045 series. It was being purchased by the township Attnang-Puchheim. It was being free of charge in more that 1000 working hours and dedicated to the town's people on 21 April 1995, the 50th anniversary of the bombing.

This cache is meant to invite to stay a little while as otherwise we hasten past it much too quickly.

You will find an inscription on the memorial on the Salzkammergut platform. Take the number of words of the last sentence as A.
Take the Number of the Salzkammergut platform as BC.

Found 29 May 2007 Pazifik found the geocache
