About SideTracked

We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t
many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public transport users?
SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes
at Train Stations.

It is hoped this idea will spread across the country in the same
way as the MMs….but if hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and remember
that in this day and age, public transport is under greater
scrutiny than ever before, so, although these caches should be
quick and easy grabs, PLEASE don’t place a Cache where it could
cause alarm!!!

Sidetracked - Steam's Up - Littlehempston

The Buckfastleigh, Totnes and South Devon Railway line opened on 1 May 1872. It was worked from the outset by the larger South Devon Railway Company until 1 February 1876 when this was amalgamated into the Great Western Railway, who continued to operate the line.
The Buckfastleigh company was amalgamated into the Great Western Railway in 1897. This in turn was nationalised into British Railways on 1 January 1948. The line closed to passengers in November 1958 but goods traffic continued until 7 September 1962.
It was re-opened as the "Dart Valley Railway", a heritage railway, on 5 April 1969, the opening ceremony being performed by Dr Richard Beeching. In 1971 the line beyond Buckfastleigh was again closed and the A38 road was built on the route of the railway.
The South Devon Railway Trust took over the running of the line on 1 January 1991.
A second station for the South Devon Railway heritage railway is situated to the north east of the mainline Totnes Station, on the opposite bank of the River Dart and parallel to the main line. It was opened in the 1990s and was named Totnes (Littlehempston). It is accessed by a pedestrian bridge over the river from the main station, adjacent to the railway viaduct over the river, and only open during the very restricted hours the station is open. Prior to this the South Devon steam trains were permitted to use the main station.

The container is a soda bottle preform.
