Parece ser que el origen de Serranillos del Valle estuvo en unas chozas construidas por los serranos que bajaron en el s. XVIII desde los montes con el fin de aprovechar la abundancia de pastos que existía en esta zona para alimentar a sus rebaños.

Aparece este municipio mencionado en documentos del siglo XIII y más posteriormente del s. XV.

En sus orígenes formó parte de la Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Segovia. Esto duró hasta el siglo XVIII, momneto en el que pasa a depender de Chichón.
