A great cache well suited to escape Vienna on December 8 - the day of big christmas presents buying madness. Although it was foggy we had a nice walk in this village unknown to us till today. The Guglhupf is really am impressive construction! The cache is in good condition.

Wenn man vom Geiselberg (Wien-Simmering) die "Road to Nirwana" nimmt, dann kann man eigentlich gar nicht anders, als am Gaiselberg anzukommen (eine andere Erklärung, warum ich mich um 23:16 mit einer Taschenlampe in der Hand beim Guglhupf befand, kann ich mir einfach nicht vorstellen )
Stage 1 war nett und hat uns akkustisch die ganze Nacht begleitet, bei Stage 2 hätte ich fast aufgegeben (die Logs ließen vermuten, daß das möglich sei, aber in der Nacht wären wir wohl eher nicht so erfolgreich gewesen). Ich wollte nämlich die Nachtruhe von unschuldigen Dorfbewohnern nicht unnötig stören. Der Approach von einer anderen Seite erforderte an unerlaubten Aktionen nur das Queren eines einzigen Feldes (unbeobachtet) und das war mir eindeutig lieber. Der Rückweg war IMHO wesentlich einfacher, ackerfrei, auf einem Trampelpfad und einer Straße und vor allem ohne Höhendifferenzen. (Aber Geschmäcker sind verschieden )
Den Cache haben wir dann ohne Probleme gehoben.

Spending the whole (business) day in Brno, I passed the cache area almost on my way back to Vienna, but no description and riding shotgun (even in the 3rd row ;)) with a rented van.
So I retracked in the evening with the usual suspect, speeding up on deserted roads, enjoying a quick meal on-the-fly from a gas station (being nuts, we also preferred nuts 8D ). Stage One was real fun by night, trying to read a moving number in the dark (it took us three turns ). Going by car to stage 2 as close as possible was a bit tricky, at first we parked within the village but the other suspect refused to stroll through may-be-back-yards with some dogs barking close-by. So we reparked, into the open country road. Our approach was still difficult, without a floodlight at hand finding the best way was impossible, so we crossed an overgrown earth ridge, and I found the 'turning stone' immediately. The way back was even trickier, we found a better way which IMHO took us through more wood area than before, but at least we reappeared close to the car out of the dense forest. Reparking again closer to stage 3, we entered the sleepy area again, getting some interesting additional information. Using my GPS the cache was found on the 2nd possible place. We logged at 11:16 p.m., the cache is dry and in good condition, and now better camouflaged than before. On the way back home we tried a low level flight and had a touched down on the pillows at 01:00 a.m. .

Thx to GPearl for this nice cache, it is 100%-night-cacheable :), and a worthwile 150th-found-one.

Ein Versuch, in grossem Bogen von Stage 1 nach Stage 2 zu wandern, führte zunächst in eine Zeckenhochburg und dann in eine sehr bizarre Gegend aus Lösswänden und verschiedenen "Relikten". Stage 2 war gar nicht einfach zu finden. Der Weg weiter war nach einem Fehlversuch mit einer "Abkürzung" auch kein Problem. Wieso man dort nicht gehen soll, wie in manchen Logs zu lesen war, ist mir unklar. Das ist doch ein ganz normaler Güterweg. Vielleicht wollen manche Einheimische nicht, dass man sieht, was sie selber da hinten tun und hinterlassen (ausrangierte Herde mitten im Wald ...).
Auf dem Anstieg zum Endversteck traf ich noch auf eine mir bis dahin unbekannte Schlangenart, die sich sogar noch als Fund verwerten liess *g*.
Ein sehr interessanter Ort.
