Found 07 October 2012 S2imon found the geocache

Found 10 October 2008 divingbrothers found the geocache

Einige Stationen waren mir sofort klar.

Found 18 September 2008 cezanne found the geocache

Today at my second attempt I found this cache at a place I had looked at already last time, but not carefully enough. I prefer to use my eyes first before using my hands, but for this cache this is not almsot impossible in particular when they are people around within a circle of diameter 50 m around the hideout. Moreover, I encountered several potential hideouts that seemed more likely and better suited to me than this one which has a certain disadvantage from my point of view.

All in all, my impression about this cache did not change. I liked the underlying idea and the first clean part and did not appreciate the final part, the cache hunt which would have been considerably more pleasant if a hint had been present. I do not feel that hints for caches of this type spoil the fun for whoever. In particular they also often help to verify if a cache has disappeared.

Found 16 September 2008 aj-gps found the geocache

20:30
Finally!
When this cache was published I managed to identify all but three pictures rather quickly. On a few bike-trips through the city I managed to identify an additional picture.
Unfortunately todays bike-trip didn't yield any new results, so I returned home with two unknown values giving me 676 different possibilities for the final location. I then started to approach the problem in the usual way. Drawing the possible locations on a map I could quickly reduce the different possibilities down to 52, resulting in two rectangles, each covering approximately 59800 square meters. Even though most coordinates were right in the middle of buildings that was still a bit too much for manual cache searching. I then decided to re-check some locations I missed on my bike trip with certain online-tools. I managed to find a possible location and within a few minutes I had found one of the missing values and could reduce the possible final coordinates down to 1.
Turns out that I even knew that very specific location! Damn, that would have been much easier..
Approaching the location by bike I noticed that even in the evening there were quite some muggles around. But it didn't really matter, to my surprise I found the micro at the second location that I had a look at.
Thanks for this nice cache.

As I know Graz very well, identifying the locations where the photos have been taken has been easy for me although I am very avisual. Actually I only needed to visit the location leading C as this was the only value I could not either guess or determine in other ways. I visited, however, some other locations during the weekend which I passed by anyway just to confirm my conjectures.

Yesterday evening I visited the statue leading to C (which was easy for me as I knew exactly where I had to go) and calculated the coordinates of the cache. The result surprised me as it did not seem to fit to the logs of the previous finders. I could not imagine how WW should have reached the cache only five minutes after rutschger given his current situation. rabat, however, was so kind to confirm the correctness of the target area I had obtained.

Today in the evening I went to the location by bicycle. The reception was very jumpy. Contray to what is claimed in the cache description it was not at all easy to find the cache. Neither looking around nor searching at all places that I could think of led to any result. My GPS-r was pointing to a location which does not fit the cache description, but nevertheless I also searched there. Moreover, I searched at many locations which better fit the cache description, but again in vain. The only result was that I ended up with dirty fingers and quite frustrated.

While the idea of using photographs as the basis for a cache is nice (I have already encountered this idea, but not in Graz), I did not appreciate at all the end of this cache. I think that identifying all the locations and visiting them is sufficiently difficult in particular for people who do not Graz very well to warrant a cache with difficulty rating 3* without turning the search for the cache into a miniature easter egg search. I would have greatly welcomed a hint or at least some information on the type and size of the cache container (I do not hope that the cache is a nano cache).
